1. Was lovely to meet everyone, although I didn't socialise with everyone as it was nice to see my old friend Thom and just have a catch up and play on his GK rig! Which I must say, I was impressed with! It maybe needed to be a bit more mid clarity for me but it really moved some air!

That crazy little Barefaced cab has got me looking into them now. Damn GAS!!!

Awesome to talk to everyone I did and look forward to another one soon.

@Shep - will try and make tonight bud.

2. It's not been to bad really. The tribute band is still pulling in the gigs although a few venues have had to lower the price and it's a lot harder getting the good guarantees now.

Still, I'm a band whore and this seems to keep me busy a lot with more rehearsing.

eventually it will come full circle. We've gotta ride out the storm but I think it will start to pick up again when we start crawling out this economic mire.

3.
Not too far from me so I may be able to make this but will not know until friday unfortunetly.
If I do I'll try to bring

Wood and Tronics Custom 4
Mayones Custom 4
Skjold Custom 5
Genz Benz
You been shopping at Bass Direct a lot by any chance :)

Was nearly tempted to get a Skjold, lovely looking basses.

4.
I've heard basses and amps referred to (eye-rollingly) as "beasts" but this is the first time I've heard the name misappropriated for a carpeted plank of wood.
:)

Sorry, got a bit too excited there.

Still, it's a "beast" as far as carpeted foam board goes

5. I've lent my gear for years and *touch wood* nothing crazy has happened BUT...

I nearly had a fit once when the bass player put a pint on my brand new Warwick Profet amp a few years ago. I nearly jumped on stage and took it off. Luckily he saw my face of rage and took it off :-D

I've lent my bass a couple times but it felt really wrong...almost dirty? Since then I'll never let anyone borrow it at a gig.

6.
There's a whole thread of love here. Cracking bit of kit.
Gah, damn my lack of search forum skills.

I do apologise for double threading!

7. Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone else has one of these beasts?

I know they are a fair wack of money for a piece of foam, wood and carpet BUT it's probably been the biggest tone improver for me on crap stages (i.e most of them). They really tighten up the bottom end and take away the boominess without having to loose your sound due to massive EQ alterations.

I'm not affiliated with the company either, I just think more people should know about them and possibly try one if they can.

8. I use Mono and it's absolutely awesome. I can't sing their praises enough and I was lucky/cheeky enough to get artist prices on them!

Although this was after I bought my original one, DOH!

Still, I'm hankering over their range of ruck sack style bags. Always carrying extra stuff to gigs and they look the dogs nuts.

Mark over @ Bass Direct stocks them and the iGig bags too. Check him out.

9. I was around 14 and saw my best friends play on stage in a school assembly and I just thought to myself " I have to play on stage " and then the guitarist asked if I wanted to play bass and I said " Yeh, why not ". 10 years later it's taken over my life and is the most singular important thing to me. It's opened up doors, opportunities, friends, girls, travel, and much more.

I always used to tap rhythms on my desk in school and at home so maybe should of been a drummer ;-)

10. @ Dread Bass

Hey man!! I remember that gig, was a right laugh! Your bass look awesome, 6 strings is just beyond me :)

I will bring it to the bass bash if your coming???

What gigs have you got lined up, if I'm not gigging I will lend it ya for a gig.

11.
Welcome fellow Nottingham Bassbod.

Are you the same bassist that used to play for Sack Sabbath when Rob did vocals for you? In which case we have met many times! :)

Oh... and enjoy basschat!

Shep
Hey Shep!

Nice to meet another fellow Nottingham bass dude :)

Yeh I've been in SS coming up to 4 years next April (Jesus H Christ, that's madness) so was in when Rob was singing! Was you down Magnet a lot mate???

I can't recognise you from that picture but I bet I will face to face! You going to that bass bash thing?

12. At the moment it has to be

Colin Edwards - Porcupine Tree. Seen them live and this guy makes everything look effortless and so much fun. Really intelligent lines that aren't just "I can play faster than thou".

James Jameson - I know it's quite an obvious one but I've only been really digging him as of late. Got "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" and just been reading through the songs and they just open up so much when you learn them note for note. Absolute gem.

Leland Sklar - Another obvious cat but after watching a load of interviews with him, I found a massive respect for his attitude towards his playing and just his persona overall.

13. Hey guys,

I'll be attending so put me down on the list

I can bring

Dingwall Combustion 5
Warwick Thumb BO4 with Bartolini pickups and Nordstrand pre-amp
Warwick Jazzman BO4

Genz-Benz Shuttle Max 12.0

Mark Bass 6x10 Cab if anyone wants a play!

See you all there!

Dan

14. Hey guys,

My names Dan, 24, from Nottingham and been playing bass now for 11 years.

Currently rumbling for Sack Sabbath and Lordaeron plus numerous smaller projects and solo work.

Current rig and basses;

Genz-Benz Shuttle Max 12.0
Mark Bass 106 Classic (hopefully changing over to GB Uber cabs in the new year)

Dingwall Combustion 5 - had this since July, absolutely LOVE it. Best bass I've played/owned.
Warwick Thumb BO-4 - bartolini pickups, nordstrand pre-amp. Very hi-fi sounding modern bass. Awesome too.
Warwick Jazzman BO-4 - my first Warwick, battered to hell, sounds great still.
Warwick Corvette Frettless - :)

Erm, love discussing anything bass related so thought this was the best place to come :-D

I have a Twitter over at www.twitter.com/danbassuk and Facebook www.facebook.com/danbassuk

Hope to contribute to the site and look forward to it!

Cheers
Dan
