  1. hello all,
ive got a 2008 ebmm stingray 2eq, maple neck, up until now ive always used roundwounds on all basses that ive owned, so i have not got any idea which flatwounds to try? i find now that i dont want a bright, zing, clanky, sounding bass! playing mostly fingerstyle now, so any help on which strings to go for would be much appreciated!! gauge im using is 45 - 105

    many thanks, herman.

  2. i had a rehearsal last night with my fairly new svt 410hlf, all was going well until our guitarist said he could see the top two speakers in my cab `light up` how right he was!! when i played finger style it was fine, then played some slap and popping and the outside of the top speakers around the speaker frame area would light up when i popped the D and G strings on my bass!!! the cab is made in vietnam, would anyone know if this is a major problem, am i harming the speakers?

    many thanks, herman.

  3. thanks for the replies chaps, ive got a 2008 natural 2eq stingray with maple neck, its got a wonderful sound, but i just cant get on with the width of the neck, so should be up for sale/trade soon! hence the wanting of a jazz bass! really would like one in sunburst/rosewood neck.

    thanks herman.

try a company called `lean-business` i think they are based in coventry.

  5. is there any way possible to find out what rms rating the 18" speaker is? could it be done with speaker still in cab?
i know its 8ohms but there is no wattage rating on speaker anywhere, any idea how to solve this? on the back of cab
it says 500w rms and 4ohms, but i know for fact the driver is 8ohms.

  8. hi all,

ive got a little mark 2 head, problem is when i switch it on, it makes a slow whirring noise, sounds like the fan is
struggling to get going but after about 30-60 seconds its fine with no noise, just wondered if this is a common
problem with these heads or do i need to replace the fan?

    thanks mick.

  9. hello mate,

for years ive always used ampeg gear, have now gone to markbass! LM2 head, 104hf + 102hf cabs, the sound is
superb! its not heavy at all, very portable! the VLE & VPF filters are a godsend! and yes markbass gear is fairly
expensive new, if you buy used you can get a good deal if your in the right place at the right time!! when im at
practise sessions i just use the 4x10 on its own, the head runs at 300w @ 8ohms and it can do `LOUD`with the 2x10
    and 4x10 its monster!!

    cheers mick.
