1. Thanks ! They are indeed great basses, I just can't get along with the really slim neck. Perfect for someone who has small hands or just likes slim necks, though!
2.
Buy with confidence! Matt is a top geezer
Thanks!
3. Hey I have a red precision special deluxe bass that I bought in February 2010, which I am looking to trade for something.. I don't know what, yet.. but feel free to make offers! There is one problem with it, being that the jack socket is starting to play up a bit, but I will replace and fix it before I trade it. Apart from that, it's in pretty good condition.. a few dings (2-3, no paint has come off), and one deepish scratch but its not that visible. I have also bought a new perloid white pickguard for it which cost £40 , but it will come with the old gold one aswell. I will get pictures up tonight hopefully. For now, here is a picture on GAK.. although it looks darker in person http://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-active-p-ba...-rosewood/15788 Collection from Maidstone only. Cheers
4. Ah i'm such a newb. I tried putting my elixirs off my jazz bass (long scale) on my yamaha and it fitted. The reasons I thought they didn't fit at first is because when I first bought the long scale for my bass I bought the B separately, and it didn't fit.. therefore assuming the rest wouldn't fit, so I didn't even try them so I could get a refund. Problem solved Doh!
5. Does anyone else find them really tense compared to other strings?
6. Cheers! Theres only one brand of strings which I can use (Elixir) and if my current bass has to have XL then I guess the TRB will also use them. However, does using XL strings opposed to Long strings affect the compliance/tension of the strings?
7. Hey I am going to be buying a yamaha TRB1006 soon, and I just wanted to check that it's a XL Scale bass and that it will require XL sets of strings? I currently have a rbx775 and I made the mistake of buying long strings when I first restrung it with elixirs, which were too short because the part where the string narrows down came before the nut. So, I changed them for XL longs which worked fine. However.. the person i'm buying the TRB1006 off has been using long scale rotosound 6 string sets, even though it's an XL scale bass . Does this mean that i'd be able to use long elixir strings instead of the XL ones? Or is it just that the rotosund strings do not narrow down as soon as elixirs? http://www.gak.co.uk/en/rotosound-swing-ba...0-6-string/5885 Thanks!
8. If your looking for a good five string you should check out some second hand Yamahas. You should be able to get Yamaha TRB1005 for about £350 or less secondhand on here. Or even get a BBG5A or a good RBX (775 or 765) one for £150ish.
9. I looked everywhere, couldn't find any information on it! Thanks for the info though, that has cleared up my confusion
10. Nice! New strings always makes the difference! By the way, how much would you be looking for the G5A if you were to sell it to me?
11. I've been looking at the prices of yamaha trb1006's and I was just wondering is there a difference between the TRB1006 and the TRB1006J or is it the same thing? They look exactly the same There seems to be a general price difference. TRB1006J sells for about £870 and the TRB1006 sells for about £680. Thanks
12. Thanks! I will probably buy one off modelingmakingsupplies.co.uk
13. damnit! And theres no decent music stores near me! Does anyone want to sell me one please?
14. My bad, sorry for the three pics! First time doing that haha
15. Just tried the one of my jazz, doesn't fit! Do you know where I can buy a replacement quickly? I don't think I can wait 2 weeks for yamaha to send me one, as i'm trading the bass in about 7 days!
16. Hey On the bridge of my yamaha rbx775, i'm missing one of the screw things that you move to raise and lower the action on the B string. I don't know what the actual term for it is, so I hope my description is understandable Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for this? Need one asap as I am going to be selling it bass soon. Thanks Matt
17. Getting a refund haha! There was actually a rip in the left speaker!
18.
IMHO the BB415 has a *far* nicer neck then the G5A, which feels like an ironing board in comparison - mind you, I have smallish hands. I know the RB605 has a 'clubby' neck, as I used to own this very bass & it's coming back to me! I feel I didn't really give this bass a chance when I had it & now I have the chance to get it back I'll give it a fair go, however as I said above, one will have to go as I'm limiting myself to 2 basses (main & backup). By the way, does the RBX775 have the 10-pole Yamaha Humbucking pickups? I'd love to put a pair of thos on the G5A. I used to have an RBX375 fitted with those & I loved the tone. G.
If i'm honest, i don't actually know.. but check out the specs on the yamaha website . 19. No problem! Well, I really like yamaha 5 strings.. they do the best 5 stringers in their price range in my opinion. But, i've never liked the look of the yamaha rbx775 (the one I have) and i've never liked the shape of the body on the rbx765. But I like everything about the BBG5A! Matt
20. Tempting! I'l wait to see if geoff is going to sell me his, if not then I will buy a bb605! Thanks for the help everyone
21. How much was your BB605 New? and is £130 a good secondhand price?
22. What colour is your G5A geoff?
