1.
Here's Nellie doing my pedalboard
Why am I hearing that in a Newcastle accent, does your dog really sound like Jimmy Nail ?? !
2. I've read something about them chewing up batteries apparently due to some dodgy component in the earlier models. This one's a 1998 model and the previous owner said it was not too bad on batteries.
3. I picked it up this evening and have not stopped grinning since plugging it in. Whacking it through a Line 6 Lowdown Studio 110 - gets every sound I could ever want. For me this is Bass heaven !
4. Thanks guys, my fingers are twitching more than ever now !
5. Everything I read about these on here seemed to be positive... will see how I get on. Thanks !
6. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT Bit late now, but I hope you lot approve.... picking it up later !
7. I have had fun & games with the Church PA with this bass and put a thread up about it here : - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=91825 On reflection, however, as a novice I would rather get rid & have a nice new one. I bought it from local free-ads and was taken by it's good cosmetic order. It sounds good to my untrained ear & holds its tune. I would like £60 for this collected ? Live just north of Bristol. Thanks !
8. I think shielding is a must-try fix. I'll try to get some of that paint.. Thanks everyone !
9. Thanks ! I was wondering whether to place my guitar in the hands of one of the recommended local specialists for new pickups - but probably can buy a new Ibanez for what that'd cost.. don't trust myself to solder it all up correctly.
10. Thanks David. The blurb about the guitar says that if both pickups are employed equally there is a "humbucking" effect, but that has not stopped me picking up the guitars & voices. I'll check out where the loop is.
11. It has - I will try without the loop turned on. Would shielding stop this ? Thanks again
12. Thank you - I saw some useful guidance on that in the stickies.. shielding with copper foil or conductive paint.. Or am I trying to polish a turd & should get a new guitar ?!
13. Cheers Lozz - thought someone might say that !! The P-bass is very nice, but mine has a slimmer neck which I find easier to play at the moment. I have put up a post on the technical forum. Hope to be able to contribute more to the forum once I am more established.
14. I am new & not all that clued up. Would love some help with something which is bugging me about my lovely bass... I have read as much of the forum posts as I can but would be really grateful, please if someone could kindly let me know what I need to do...I don't expect I will be using all the right terminology. I have had this bass for about a year - bought used and it's my first - but I really like the feel of it and the sound too. Cosmetically it is in great condition - holds tune well etc. The problem I am having with my Peavey is when I'm playing in a group at my church, where I plug into the amplifier & bass cab which is in situ there. When there are other amplified instruments or voices mic'd up within 10 feet of me, my guitar picks them all up & puts their sounds through the bass amp & speaker. All of these other instruments & mic's are on wireless. The other bass I have access to (a Fender P-bass which again resides at church) does not do this. I have to turn two of the three pots down to stop this effect, which makes the sound very bland. I have taken the scratch plate on the front off & looked for loose wires, there's nothing obvious, and I noted that there was only a small amount of foil stuck around where the pots mount the scratch plate. Has anyone got any simple fixes for this ? Is it simply better shielding which is required ? Or am I in the realms of new pickups ? Many thanks.
15. Hi, I'm James, live near Bristol I've not been playing bass long.. I picked up a bass guitar one evening at my church music group practice - it's a Fender P-bass - it was out on a stand and the music was crying out for a bass - I knew what keys the strings were, worked out the bass line in my head & bashed it out fairly OK. Since then I bought a used but beautiful sunburst Peavey Milestone III 4-string bass, on trade-it from a local lad, just to see how I liked it. I practice the songs ready for a sunday morning & really enjoy playing the bass. My other instrument is the blues harmonica which I have been playing for 20 years & have played in blues bands & at church. I will looking out for a half-decent practice amp to replace my ancient eastern european 10w bass amp which I bought yonks ago for keyboard. I love the bass - it's got to be the best instrument in the whole band. I was given Bass Guitar for Dummies but haven't really found the time to get into it yet as I have a young family. One issue I have with the Peavey is that when there are other instruments mic'd up, my guitar picks them all up & puts their sounds through the bass amp The Fender does not do this. I wonder if a wire is loose inside ? I have to turn two of the three pots down to stop this which makes the sound very bland. Has anyone got any simple fixes for this ? Otherwise I am looking forward to absorbing a fraction of the collective wisdom of this impressive forum ! Keep up the good work Arjimlad
