Didn’t see an Wals on the FS list so you’ll be ok 🤓
Seriously considering putting down a deposit on one before Christmas, depending on how other things go. Will miss my 40th birthday for sure, but should be just in time for 41st
Anyway - I hope everyone had a smashing time there. Will keep my eyes peeled for the date of next year's

Aaaaaaah pants, this is/was today?!?! I had no idea, else I'd have been there. Been moping about looking for something to do all day. TSSSSK!!!! Maybe next year!!

Man, I LOVE this bass. EXACTLY the kinda p-bass sound I’m looking for. I wonder why this has that sound, yet the Highway One I used to have (with.a DiMarzio pickup) sounded nothing like it.
Hmmmm....checking back of sofa for £500

Given how close you are to Wal HQ, why not ask Paul if he can loan you one?
Cheers! That's the next step on my list I've been over to his workshop before and he was fantastic and patient. I shall write him a very nice email. Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi All
Thanks for clicking and reading. Bit of an odd one, this...
I'm due to record album #3 with a long-term original project in Sept/Oct this year (dates TBC). I intend to record a number of tracks on a fretless and I think that unmistakeable, inimitable Wal tone would be perfect...but I can't wait two years for Paul to build me one and I don't have £5k to buy one anyway!
Does anybody know of anybody (individual or hire company) who might consider hiring such an instrument out to me for a week or so? Of course I'd be more than happy to pay a fair rate....and supply any ID, proof of address required...and a reasonable deposit. More than happy to supply details of the project by PM.
If you think this post would better suit a different section of this website, please do shout.
Any word-spreading/suggestions/tagging would be enormously appreciated.
Many thanks!
John

Hi All
Last year I bought a Sire V7 Vintage from another BC'er. It's a great 'no fear' touring bass and aside from some difficulty balancing intonation and string height of my B-string when loaded through the body, I've had no major issues with it...but I'd like to make some improvements, starting with a new bridge.
Has anybody successfully retrofitted a high-mass bridge to one of these without having to drill new screw holes and retaining through-body stringing?
Has anybody else had issues with B-string height and intonation when strung through body?
To get the string in tune, I've had to bring the saddle so far back, the B-string is bent at close to a right-angle over the saddle to get it through the body (see photo), causing obvious issues when attempting to correctly intonate.
Any experience/advice would be appreciated and gratefully received. Thanks for reading.

Also for sale is the Pedaltrain Novo 24 and it’s softcase.
This is only about 6 weeks old, and apart from the Velcro is like new.
Is the pedaltrain and case still
for sale?

Just bought Crispin's immaculately clean big box Q-Tron and I'm delighted with it. Very friendly, clear and reliable communicator and the pedal arrived really quickly, just as he said it would. I wouldn't hesitate to repeat in future - a genuine pleasure. Thanks Crispin!

Bought a smashing Sire VV7 from Wilco back in September. Really friendly, helpful and reliable gent - a genuine pleasure. Deal with confidence, good people!

Lovely bass, this one. Having played it, I can definitely confirm everything written above.
The B-string is every bit as good as my old '88 Thumb 6...only this is a super comfortable, well-balanced bass that DOESN'T weigh 14lb! Fantastic build quality, a really superb instrument at an outrageously generous price...and the seller is a great bloke, so deal with 100% confidence!
GLWTS!

Hi
Got your PM re Qtron but since site upgrade it has disappeared and I can’t send you one because (despite my inbox being empty), the site thinks I need to delete some messages before I can send some. Peachy!
Anyway, I’m definitely interested. Just need to know about condition etc.
Cheers!

Oh wow - I had one of these until 2014 when I sold it (regrettably) and I’ve missed it ever since. Out of the question right now though - shame, cos these basses come up very rarely.
Gonna check out your recordings now. GLWTS -

Dear god!
Part-exchange for a mildly abused liver? What an amazing-looking bass.
I had a '79 Sabre for years and I miss it dearly. Someone's gonna bag themselves a beauty here! -
Yes please! But how did you know I don't have a gig on 23rd Sept?! Amazing work
-
Just traded basses with Lee - top, top bloke! Totally fair, trusting and trustworthy, the bass arrived quickly and exactly as described (massive thanks to Lee's wife for the excellent packaging - so good, I sent him my bass in it!).
Wouldn't hesitate to deal with Lee again. A real credit to basschat. Nice one amigo - hope you enjoy the bass! -

Open to offers, within reason

It'll be going on my flight case just as soon as I work out how to stick things to a Hiscox without them peeling straight off again! They could make saucepans out of those things and NOTHING would stick to them!

By popular request (thanks to everyone who has PM'd me so far), I have removed the sticker. No paint came off, it's just left a slightly darker circle remains where the sticker once was, but it's barely noticeable (I've tried my best to photograph it).

A tiny of the guitar equivalent of t-cut would probably smooth it out completely.

Open to trades and p/x's. I'm particularly keen on any of the following (preferably active and with two pickups), ir order of preference:

decent fretless (must be lined)

steinberger-esque (cricket bat) bass

5 string
Bought last year to take on Nigerian tour in place of my beloved '69 Jazz bass. I took one look at it on eBay and had to have it. Tons of mojo...and the sticker already attached was stupidly serendipitous.
If you don't know much about these basses, they were built in the Corona factory in California and shipped down Highway 1 to Mexico where they were finished in nitrocellulose. They were designed to age nice and easy, which this one has. Curiously, they also shipped with a Badass II as standard.

The previous owner replaced the stock pickup and 'greasebucket' circuit with the hotter DiMarzio Model P. The original pickup and circuitry was included when I bought it and will be included when I part with it.

I've just spent £110 getting this bass setup at Charlie Chandler's in Hampton, London. It required some fretwork where the top fret had popped. This has now been totally fixed and dressed. The Badass saddles were also replaced with new ones as the old ones had seized. Currently strung with Jamerson-gauge La Bella flats (about a year old, full of Lagos mojo).

I'm in Dorking but regularly gigging, teaching and rehearsing in London. Happy to arrange visits. I make nice tea and we always have decent biscuits
Hit me up with any questions or trade offers! I'll do my best to answer within the day.

It's 8:30 in the evening. You know what that means, don't you? It's a good time to buy a Stingray 5!!
