I thnk I'm gonna end up renting a rehearsal studio after all. I'm not gonna go into details but I personally know people who've had bad experiences with this sort of stuff. Granted, it was outside the UK. I know Edinburgh is really safe overall but some habits/precautions are hard to unlearn.

    I'm selling an amp on Gumtree and obviously potential buyers want to try it out first. I hadn't considered this issue, but it turns out I'm not comfortable with having strangers at my home. First I thought I could ask one of the local stores, as I've sold basses after having buyers try them out there before. But then I realised it'd be downright rude considering they sell the same type of equipment there. Any suggestions on how to deal with this? Am I being unreasonably paranoid?

    I already got ahold of a guitar so I'm not interested in trades anymore, but I may consider an AVRI or a Johnny Marr Jaguar. I don't have a scale at home but I'd say the bass is on the heavy side for a Stingray, probably around 4.7 kg. Cairobill, you may be right... I think the regular white Classic Stingrays come with a tortoise shell pickguard.

I never played this bass outside my room so it's pretty much in mint condition with the exception of two defects shown in pictures below: one of the pickup poles is a bit faded due to contact while playing, and a mark next to the battery cover on the back (a factory defect) which is barely noticeable. I never really used the string mutes so they're like new.     I've been using the ER-20s for quite a while and they're great. No problems hearing the bass, but I found that you get an annoying occlusion effect while singing (the booming sound, as if you were underwater) and my voice ends up drowning all other sounds. Are the ER-15s noticeably better than the ER-20s in terms of occlusion? I also found the [url="http://www.acscustom.com/uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=105&Itemid=52"]ACS Pro-17s[/url], which are supposed to prevent occlusion. Has anyone tried both the ER-15's and the ACS Pro-17s? How do they compare? I'm wondering if they do really work or if it's just a gimmick.

    Hi everyone! I completely missed this section of the forum in the two years that I've been lurking, so I apologise for randomly posting ads without introducing myself first. I live in Edinburgh, been playing for 11 years, going through all kinds of different basses: Ibanez, Yamaha, Pedulla, fretless, short scale, etc. only to end up with two that as a teenager I never liked (yes, I was stupid). A Fender AVRI '62 Precision and a Musicman Classic Stingray. I sometimes wish that I had started with a classic bass. The precision truly does all I need and the Stingray is one funky beast.

    Hi everyone, I'm a 25 year old bassist looking for a band in Edinburgh. I play a P-bass and I'm planning to get an amp (recently relocated here). I'd love to play some punk/indie/garage rock a la The Cribs, The Subways, The Strokes. Something gritty that you can jump to.
