  3. I had my first experience with my new gramma pad today in a practice room that I’ve been fighting the floor for years (suspended wooden floor)

well I didn’t realise it’d work as well as it did. Had to turn the low end down from its usual spot, and any eq adjustment I made was easy to hear. Stunned!

  4. out of p and j i'd have to say p - agreeing with the "thump" comment!

but really you should be looking at something with a mudbucker for some rumble! theres no need for articulation in and industrial music i've heard!

saw rob zombie on tour and thats a p bass he uses - does the job, although i'd say theres some octaver stuff going on there!

  5. aup mate, i use a sansamp rbi and rpm through a power amp - and i'm not a million miles from nottingham if you wanted to try it?

i had this set up running a dual rig (not proper biamp) with gritty rbi through 210 and clean low rpm through 115 - sounded awesome!

now figured out how to hook them up together and mix the 2 sounds without colouring them - so i only need one DI (which sound engineers much prefer IME)

so yeah if you wanted to meet up then you can see what those 2 units sound like.

good luck on the expensive quest for tone lol

  6. I think it's going to be a suck it and see - considering an ampeg head to replace the power amp and rpm, but it's only cause I miss that 40 hz really low quality! The 80hz works well in the studio where they cut below that anyway, but my 15" cab seems to add that magic frequency that doesn't see the PA!

IE stage sound is spot on, front of house doesn't quite have the same power!

    Cheers

  7. This has all come about through my need for a 40hz eq setting!

I use a bi amped RBI and rpm set up with 2 speaker cabs, if I send the crunchy mids setting of the RBI through the effects loop into the clean low and high of the rpm, can I adjust the level of the mid crunch and just use 1 DI and cab?

Will it give me a mash up of the 2 or will it still sound like it does through the dual rig?

Hope you understand what I'm getting at! Cheers

  8. was going to start a new thread but this fits perfectly!

what would be the general concensus of sound engineers actually ALLOWING bass cabs to be miked? i really noticed last night how the pa out front sounded not a lot like my stage sound!

mind you, i used different settings to usual attempting to get a borrowed trace elliot cab to sound anywhere near good!

much the same effect with my ampeg 115 and 210, but to a lesser extent though.

and yes, i would LOVE to roll up to a gig with my sansamps and wireless, but i cant see me being able to do that until I am the one calling the shots! lol (putting the drummer in a fish bowl to start with!)
