1. Hi everyone,

Firstly, I have an Aphex Punch Factory for sale, in superb condition - a brilliant, straightforward effective optical compression pedal that i've been using for about 4 months. More than happy with it (in fact its incredible value for money bearing in mind its cost and how good it is at what it does) but letting it go due to someone buying me an expensive alternative! Brilliant value for money and generally considered to be a superb little pedal.

£50 delivered, which is a bargain - SOLD

Electro Harmonix Bass Balls - a Russian made model, built like a tank, complete with wooden box. Lovely twin envelope filters with or without distortion.

    £35 delivered - SOLD

Now, the next one is a little bit unusual. I have a Line 6 Bass Pod Live XT (the pedal board one) that i've had for about a year and a half. I hardly gigged it, considering it slight overkill for someone who only really needs two or three effects and doesn't need any amp modelling. It was brilliant when I did use it though, very easy switching, customising of sounds etc., and the compression on it is *brilliant*. However...

...I can't seem to get the USB socket to work. I've tried everything (I think) but to no avail. No idea whether this is a proper fault which needs returned to the manufacturer (and as I have no guarantee this would be costly) or a really easy issue that just needs something tweaked - either way it just doesn't work in any computer i've plugged it into.

Of course, this in no way affects its being used as a pedal board - on that score it's in top condition, boxed, with manuals, hardly stomped on and treated very very well. But if you wanted to use it for recording through a USB socket on the PC then, well, it aint going to happen unless you can figure out what's wrong!

So i'm going to throw it out to the folks on here for reasonable offers, and bear in mind that the price will also include the official Line 6 carry bag for it which cost me £40 at the time.

Let me know what you think. NOW SOLD!

    All the best everyone,

    T

  2. Ok. I have a Warwick 5 Jazzman, which has passive pickups but active electronics.

I've just bought a new compression pedal, and the pedal's input has a switch on the back to choose between active/passive input.

When i switch it to "active" and turn the pedal on, the input level goes right down and is much quieter than when the pedal isn't activated. When the switch is at "passive" the volumes are much more even.

Now i've checked and I have the switch functions the right way round - can anyone tell me why this happens? I would have thought my bass out out would be "active" but does this indicate that it isn't?

    any help would be great

    Tony

  3. Another positive shout out for Gwilym too. Not only sold me a cracking pedal, but ensured it smelled *fabulous* by the time it got here :))

Good on ya mate - will happily buy from you again.

  4. My first 5 string was a Yamaha RBX-375, and it was so good i still play it from time to time instead of my Warwick. Have a look around and you'll find one for about under £300 easily - I can highly recommend them for the price.

(not saying buy one from here, just an example of what they look like and jesus that's cheap! mine cost me closer to £500 although that was 9 years ago)

  6. I used to consider most of Les Claypool's stuff completely impossible to even consider trying. These days, after 15 years worth of listening to Primus, i'm ok with most of it.

However. I have *never* quite figured out what he plays in that two handed tapping phrase on "Professor Nutbutter's House of Treats". Nothing I do sounds *quite* right.

Sir Duke - just break it down into its "up" and "down" sections. It's much easier that way.

  7.
Not really - it evens out the sound. so it can rein in uneven volume levels in your playing. Obviously you need to keep some dynamic range in your sound so it has a threshold below which it lets the sound pass through uneffected.
