  1. Hi.

My Musicman Stingray 5 has stopped working. On my last gig I just about got it to work by pushing the jack plug one way and taping the instrument cable to hold it there!

My luthier suspects either a faulty input jack, faulty preamp or....?? The soldered joints on the input jack seem intact, and I put a fresh battery in.

Does anyone out there have any experience of malfunctioning Stingrays? Any tips would be most welcome!

    Many thanks.

I'm new to selling stuff on Basschat, but here goes:
I'm reluctantly parting with my beautiful Lakland Joe Osborn 5.
It's US-built, which means better quality wood, and a superior sound to the Far East-built models.
I've owned it for a couple of years. Bought it off a good friend who, like me, had looked after it well. It is pretty much unmarked, as you'll hopefully see from the pics...
It has a vintage Jazz vibe, but with a huge range of sounds, from old-school to cutting edge.
It's been fitted with a John East J-Retro 01 (see picture), which is a truly superb unit, increasing the already wide range of sounds.
I'm in North London, so would prefer collection...but I could ship it. Not sure of the cost of this....

  3. Hi, there. I want to try out gut strings, and was wondering if anyone has a set they wish to sell? Ideally I am looking for Pirastro Olivs, and I'd be happy with an E and A only...but if you have a full set, i would consider that too. Preferably wound rather than plain gut....

  4. Does anyone out there have gut G & D strings they wish to sell? Doesn't matter if they are used or worn, I just want to try them out on my bass. Preferably Pirastro Oliv or Eudoxa, but I'd consider anything. Apologies if I'm not posting this in the right area of Basschat...I'm new to this game!
