Keith McMillen 12 Step Midi Controller.

I use this to control Ableton samples / playback in an old band, but it can be used for anything MIDI - Trigger samples! Play a synth! Control the lights! Sky is the limit. Live out your 'Tom Hanks in 'Big' fantasies' and tapdance your way into the audiences heart.

But for serious, this is a great bit of kit and is really useful, and unlike anything else on the market...

Official blurb below -

The 12 step is a brand new handy foot controller from Kieth Mcmillen. Featuring 14 backlit buttons that offer 12 steps where you can trigger single notes or full chords, whilst mapping a wide range of parameters with it's pressure sensitive and tilt sensitive functions.

The idea of the 12 step was originally concieved by Billy Sheehan from "Winery Dogs" who asked Keith Mcmillan to adapt another controller the SoftStep2 into a keyboard. They took the idea and took it to the next level with extra functions and more possibilities for the performer.

A Band Member at your Feet

The 12 Step is the perfect controller to add a little extra to your performances. If you're in a smaller group and someone takes time out from their part to take a solo, the resulting backing can sound a bit thin. With the 12 step, you can beef up the bass with an extra sub voice that gives extra depth, launch clips or program in full chords so that you can keep the basic chord pattern going when the guitar or keyboard player is playing a more intricate part.

Rugged build quality.

The 12 step is made with a carbon fibre body, giving it a little flex but mightily strong. The guys at keith mcmillan were so confident of the 12 Step's road worthiness that they drove a van over it...twice! And low and behold it worked good as new after withstanding some serious weight. It may have felt like a silly test, but when you're expecting to be standing on it constantly, night after night at each gig, you'll want to know that no matter how hard you stamp the 12 step can handle the punishment.

Massively programmable

We may have given you a few ideas on how the 12 step could fit into your setup, but it's so versatile there are many other uses you will discover using its dedicated 12-step editor software for PC and Mac. Combine it with various parts of your setup
