Captain Codpiece
ok guys, i have a fender jag bass (one of the first run, with the bad hum and POS EQ.) im thinking of respraying it sherwood green (its black). but my problem is i LOVE the EQ options, just not the EQ. i really want to keep the switching as pickups on/off and series/parallel, with the active passive option also. i dont mind moving the master vol and tone to the rollers (i know they need to be wired backwards), but i cant find any EQ's that are suitable....... they all seem to be blend pots and master vol. id love a 4 pot (2 stacked) bass/treble and mid/sweep with the master vol and tone still in the chain as is the standard set up on the jag. any ideas or suggestions? Grissle
What I did was change my master vol/tone to stacked vol/tone and blend. And replaced the preamp with a Nordstrand 2 band. The bass really sings now. I also changed to Fender CS pickups.
Captain Codpiece
I dont want a blend though.... The switching is what separates it from any old jazz. This is my issue, I just can't find a drop in EQ that is not hard wired master vol and blend. I switched out the pickups for basslines stacked vintages within months of getting it :-D Maybe a ray replacement would work? I have a bass with the basslines 3band with slap switch and it's a great pre..... I wonder I'd Seymour would do a version without the blend and master? Grissle
Here's the one I used: http://www.bestbassgear.com/nordstrand-2-band-preamp.htm The blend I did was just the choice I made, it can be wired anyway you want.
Captain Codpiece
Ooh thats a definite possibility if I can find an EU distributor, I got stung on the basslines eq I got from USA..... The import duty I was ready for, the £25 fee for the letter telling me I had to go collect it from a depot in a neighboring city :-/ was the kick in the teeth. Grissle
Bass Direct is the UK Nordstrand dealer Also this pre is very neutral sounding when the knobs/wheels are centered, minimal coloration. Edited May 16, 2013 by Grissle
AngelLaHash
http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Nordstrand_Preamps.html From the US, odds on you will have to pay tax From China you don't You would think a country that don't want to pay UK tax would know ways around it Chinese send the item as a gift Say item normally costing £10 sent me as a gift, I pay the person £10 for support. Did have a talk with and american ebayer, but his reply was but its not a gift. So much I would love to buy from the US, because so much a item that costs £10 here is US$10 there with £1:US$1.67 Edited May 17, 2013 by AngelLaHash
