untune Posted September 24, 2012 Share Posted September 24, 2012 Just a quick one this - I don't want to faff taking the knobs off and such so maybe someone already knows - I have a CIJ PB70US and I'm going to swap the cap at the weekend/shield it etc, getting some nasty buzzing when the tone is open so I'm guessing there's a bad solder joint or a loose wire somewhere. The vol pot has been crackling on occasion too. I was thinking of taking all the stock stuff out (bar the pickup) and making a new harness with CTS pots, new cap etc. I have it in my head that pots on Japanese Fenders are smaller than usual, though. MrFingers Posted September 24, 2012 Share Posted September 24, 2012 Nowp, Jap pots are indeed smaller, and for CTS pots you'll need to widen the holes in the pickguard just a little bit (it's a little over 9.5mm, so I always use a 10mm drill, and the pots fit nicely).
