I want to buy a Squier Classic Vibe 50's P Bass but would want to replace the neck if i went ahead with it, but what necks would fit in the socket?

I love the neck on my CV 60's Jazz bass - would this kind of neck fit?

Basically I'm looking for a CV 50's P replacment neck that would pretty much match the neck on my CVJ. What are my options?

Thanks

Normally both necks are perfectly interchangeable, so I don't see any problems by replacing the P-neck by a J-neck (I know a lot of people who did that...), it will change the sound of the bass, because the neck is thinner (less wood = less "phat")... The only thing that's different is the shape of the heel... the '50 has a square back (like a telecaster guitar), the '60J has a round back (like a strat), it will fit, but you'll have 2 gaps at the end of the neckpocket. Just cosmetically, but... They're there. And the fretboard ofcourse: rosewood <-> maple

Mighty mite necks will do a whole maple neck & f/board

The correct model is MM2909 for the jazz all maple size on this link: http://www.mightymite.com/Necks.html

and there's this very good seller on eBay from whom I've bought my replacement neck for my CV 60 Fiesta Red that sells them with a Fender logo on this link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lic-by-Fender-70s-Maple-Jazz-Bass-Neck-MM2909-/330776184898?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item4d03cc0842
