1.
I have a quick question though. Obviously I'm using it in 8ohm mode with my 8 ohm cab to get 500 watts. But if I was finding it too loud could I use it in 4ohm mode to down rate it? I know it sounds stupid but I'm sure so done will find that info useful.
You could, it won't damage the amp or cab, but it's the same as turning down the volume, so there's no point really (unless you're scared you're going to blow your cab due to volume addiction).

2. I have a Terror Bass head and I was able to try out a few cabs with it.
Firstly, I tried an Ashdown 1 15" and a 2 10".
The sound out of these was very good. The 15 was too thin on the highs for my taste. The 210 was good, I got a nice organic tone out of both of these cabs.
I then tried a Trace 210. This really impressed me. There was not a huge difference between it and the Ashdowns but there was a difference. For me, it sounded a little sharper and clearer while still retaining the Orange crunch.
I tried Orange cabs as well, a 115 and 210 or 410 im not sure. They were surprisingly small and light, matched up with the amp and were rather pretty tbh (for the ladies :) ). The sound out of these matched up with the cab very well; clear but strong but there was just something about them that put me off, I think they made my bass sound cheap, maybe I just like some colour on my tone.
I got a Trace 210 second hand in the end, immensely happy with it.
I hope this helps in your search.

3. Hey, found myself feeling similarly a few months ago. It's very frustrating. What helped me was trying to listen to music I've never listened to before, which was mainly jazz, and I'm really into it now. Really pushes me to try play in a different way. Like learning this:

Knowing modal scales is always nice, they offer options in songwriting and are a massive help in improvising, but they're not vital (though they did help tie the full length of the fingerboard together for me).
Listen to new music, and enjoy playing it. If you're ever really challenged get help :) Good luck, just my few thoughts.

4. You could get a full Orange stack for that. You could get them new with a Bass Terror (500W Hybrid head) or you might even be able to afford the Ad200b if you got everything second hand.
I have no experience with the Orange cabs, but I hear they're good. I love my bass terror. Hope this helps :)

5.
You should be looking at buying yourself a Trace Elliot 4x12" fitted with castors :) and Orange Terror bass head - you won;t need anything else. £600 and I'll even meet up half way with you. :brow:

I've checked your profile so you will probably need something powerful being in a metal band. The Trace is a dirty monster of a cab and the amp is perfectly matched to it.

I personally don't rate this Marshall range and there are plenty of people that don;t rate Marshall in general. There is lots to choose from and it is depending on what you are going to be playing and what type of venues and if there is PA support etc
That sounds good  I have a Trace 2x10 with an Orange Terror. It's bliss, but a 4x12 would be monstrous.

Edit: The only Marshall's I tried; I didn't like, but they weren't particularly high end ones. You might have more joy with your selection.
