Couple of pictures I forgot to upload:
I'm really happy with the way the inlay has come out and the body is looking fantastic too.
Jon's said he'd finish everything off this week. Can't wait to get my hands on it -
What EMG Pickups are you going for by the way?
These one's: EMG J SET
I don't have a lot of knowledge on pickups so I went with Jon on this. -
Got some more pics the other day
Looking forward to seeing this one develop, reckon the ebony head veneer is gonna be sweet!
Cheers,
Eude
The ebony head veneer was mostly because it's going to be quite an intricate inlay so ebony would allow for cutting a rough shape for the inlay and filling in around the edges after so it looked nice and smart. Jon assured me that it would look perfect after finishing.

Shuker bass in progress
Didn't want to say anything until I got the first pictures:
Specs will be as follows:
4 string fretless J bass classic
34" scale
24 fret
maple / wenge laminated neck
two way truss rod
carbon fibre reinforcement
composite board, lined
white side dots
Ebony head veneer
'Lizzy' inlay on top of head veneer out of simulated MOP
satin finish
mahogany body
flame maple drop top
white binding
polyester basecoat
blue sunburst
wet look gloss topcoat
individual bridge units
black hardware
EMG J set
Vol / balance / tone
The inlay is going to be in memory of my auntie who left me some money and I wanted to put some of it towards something I would enjoy rather than stick it in savings.
The impatient waiting has begun.
I'd like to try the 8-stringer. Always been a concept/sound that's fascinated me! Might save up a few pennies and take the risk Did anyone see that they do a jazz bass for £70 as well??
I'm quite tempted by the 8-string too, I really like it looks wise. The only feedback I can find on an Ace Pro instrument is a review of a 12-string guitar on Harmony Central, the owner admits it's not perfect but is very happy for the price. I may be feeling rich enough someday soon to take a leap of faith and get the 8-string. I'll keep you posted -
Hey,
Glad to see this place back on it's feet again. I was blue_collar_tweeker on the last forums but I wasn't around to post much.
I've been playing for about 4 years now and I'm in a metal/rock/funk/prog (new genre name needed?) band with two fellow civil engineer students.
At the moment my gear consists of:
Cruiser by Crafter p-bass copy (Fiona)
Yamaha RBX775 (Betsy)
Peavey Cirrus 4BXP (Linda)
Boutique 6-string fretless (Loretta)
Galveston 7-string (Jean)
Behringer Ultrabass BX1200 (hasn't blown up yet)
Digitech BP200 (looking to replace)
My bands been together about 4 months now and we've got a fair few decent songs together but we've yet to play our first gig since we're only near each other during uni time so hopefully we'll make ourselves heard in september.

Same for me, I just fiddle with the tone nob till I get a sound I think will suit the song I'll be playing next
