1.
Traditionally, there's no such thing as a left handed instrument. They're a pretty recent development, coming from the popularisation of the guitar.

If you look at the classical world everyone plays the same way, regardless of whether they're right or left handed. Particularly in the string section - Imagine eighty string players hitting each other with bows in opposite hands!
I remember a guy in Halle orchestra playing a left handed violin. It's uncommon but ot unheard of. Early wind instruments could be played either way without alteration, most string instruments were basically symmetrical and could always be reversed without too much trouble, like the violin bass. It's probably the 'sinister' connotations that prevented wider usage.
It does nark me that the manufacturers nearly always charge more for the honour of being left handed, though!
It is annoying. It is a small market though, machines need re-setting, different moulds etc. If players were willing to use symmetrical designs, the price wouldn't be an issue.

    +1

I've had punters at most gigs coming up, thankful for the low volume. There may be a few people listening who enjoy the sensation of bleeding eardrums but i don't think it's the norm.

We're not all having sex with our basses are we???
Not my thing really, with all those knobs.

  4. Ged Green did a great job de-fretting and setting up my Toby, so I'm feeling generous. I basically need this out of my house, wife is concerned about my GAS buildup. Case is as new, 4 decent catches, must be worth a few quid to someone by itself.

Anyway, I bought this off ebay to find out if I could manage fretless, ended up using it almost all the time, including gigs. My newly de-fretted Toby pro is making this surplus to requirements. It lives in a luxurious ABS case that can fit a j or p shape. The pictures reveal all, it's pretty much in 'as new' condition. Pickups are marked AXL EMG, whatever that means. The fret slots have never been filled.

This is not pretending to be a great bass but it works. I'm hoping it will give someone else a chance to try their hand at fretless.
I would prefer a local buyer and would be willing to take it to Manchester area.
