Hi All
I've had a very good friend and excellent Bass player answer some of this question, in terms of what stress the amp and cabs, (if any at normal volumes), would be under, but he's unavailable for next part.
300W with 600W Cab
Vanderkley 112EXT on top of Vanderkley 115MN6. Both tweeter control at 12 o'clock
I had a great gig outside on Sunday afternoon, same songs as normal, but a quieter garden party vibe. Sound was brilliant. Still loud-ish
The day before on Saturday night was the same line up, but indoors.
First set was great as was the sound check after tweaking. Active Bass.
2nd set was not so good. I changed to my Drop D Bass, both passive and active, but kept it on active, so very similar sound, but only for first song, then changed back.
I did turn up slightly, due to the set building and drummer was going for it, so I couldn't hear myself....but I was conscious that I could go OTT with 700 Watts on clean with very sensitive speakers, so not crazy.
Gear was Bergantino Forté 2 amp, set completely flat, gain on 10 o'clock, master on o'clock
Cabs, Vanderkley 112EXT on top of Vanderkley 115MN6. Both tweeter control at 12 o'clock
Each using independent connection from the Head.
Anyway, sound was on occasions distorted, but only on some numbers.
All the band's sound would have been bouncing off the side walls as I on a slight angle.
The crowd didn't say anything, nor did band give me funny looks, (well, none that I could see anyway).
The singer sometimes asks for something to be tweaked, but he didn't say turn down to me either.
However, he did say he wanted more guitar in the monitors, so that was sorted.
I carried on, loving life, except for the odd big boom, like a peak sound wave.
However, they did all tell me that I was far too loud on the morning of the afternoon, which was a little disappointing. They should have said on the evening.
Anyway, does anyone know if the two cabinets are incompatible?
Cheers
Jas
