  1. Look, I don't have a multimeter here to measure... but my luthier measured it for me once and said everything was okay. Regarding the cavities, I can disassemble it and send you photos so you can see if there's anything wrong. The problem is that these things are sometimes not visible to the "naked eye". The situation is really complicated and frustrating.
  2. My trusted luthier shielded the bass about a year and a half ago... I really don't think that's the problem because he's very experienced and well-known here in my city... I don't know if he would mess things up like that. But I also have a slight feeling that changing the pickup won't solve the problem... The problem is that I've already bought the pickup. 😵😵😵
  3. Dude, honestly? Three luthiers told me it's well shielded... it can't be that.
  4. Good afternoon, friends. I'm stopping by one last time before definitively buying the SPB4 for my noisy Steve Harris bass. Do you have any thoughts on this pickup? I saw a side-by-side comparison of the two models and found the SPB4 interesting, however, I'm a little worried about distorting the tone a bit... I've always been very satisfied with the tone of the SPB1, but, as those who read my last post know, my bass has a chronic hum problem, and I received several suggestions about changing the pickup permanently. Here in Brazil, the SPB1 is no longer available for sale. It seems to be discontinued. I only found it on eBay, but if I need to claim the warranty, I can already imagine the problem of having to return these pickups and get a refund... The best option would be the SPB4, especially because I found it at a very good price here where I live, in a reliable store, and with a much greater chance of getting an exchange if there's any problem. I'll leave a video of mine for you to evaluate the noise. It only really becomes audible at the end, however, keep in mind that there are songs with calmer parts where the noise becomes quite noticeable... that's what bothers me.
  5. Good evening, friends. Here's the thing: I bought a set of Rotosounds SH77s a few months ago. I took it to my luthier, he put the strings on, and right away I noticed that the G string had an "old string" sound, completely dull. Well, I asked the dealer here in my country for a replacement string and they gave me a brand new set. My luthier put them on, and when I got home, the G string was dull again... Now I'd like to know what could be happening. I tried taking the string off and putting it back on, and I didn't see any difference. Maybe my problem is with the Badass Bass bridge or the tuning machines. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation? I've read elsewhere that it's a problem that can happen with Fenders... By the way, my bass is a Japanese Fender Steve Harris.
  6. I was told the exact same thing on Reddit. Maybe the Seymour Duncan SPB1 is a really noisy pickup. Or maybe I just got unlucky with this one... I thought about maybe swapping it for an SPB4, but I like the sound of the SPB1 😢
  7. Yes. I'm trying several forums because I can't find a definitive solution.
  8. Good evening, friends. About a year ago, I bought my long-awaited Japanese Steve Harris Fender Signature. Since the first day I got it, I've been suffering from noise problems. One of the first things I did was shield it, which reduced the noise when I have both hands on the instrument. After 3 luthiers, a poorly done wire re-soldering, and replacing all the electrical parts with CTS potentiometers, the bass still makes noise with the tone knob turned on. I bought the Steve Harris Sansamp in December, and the pedal sounds wonderful with the bass, however, it seems to amplify the noise even more... I'm starting to give up on this bass, because the noise is VERY ANNOYING. The worst of all is that I use it to record with my Focusrite interface, and the noise usually appears at some points during the recording... NOTE: the noise usually decreases when I touch the instrument and even when I touch the Focusrite... And it usually is a noise that varies in intensity. Sometimes it's louder, sometimes it's quieter. NOTE 2: I don't believe it's a problem with the instrument's grounding itself, as my trusted luthier has already shown me with the multimeter that the bass is grounded!
