Update on Peavey - posted May 2025.
Peavey are dead in the water following the court case in 2014 over mis-treatment of their employees to save money, which cost them over $300,000.
They have closed their UK facilities totally and are now only operating with a skeleton staff in the US.
Eminence are no longer making speakers for them, so replacement Black Widow baskets are now virtually impossible to find.
You will have to pay around £200 for what is left of the really old stock, which will probably turn out not be for the correct model, or will have aged in storage.
Overall, the only way out is to replace them with new drivers, but matching the specs and the sound is not easy.
Eminence refuse to acknowledge their involvement with Peavey, so they are not offering any suggestions for replacements.
Good luck to anyone out there, who, like me, has several to replace.
