1. I purchased one brand new last year after seeing it at a stupidly low price. The Longhorn one. Really nice bass to play and has plenty of variation with its sound but like Razze06 said, its stupidly light. Feels quite unusual at first and takes a little getting use to. Not gigged it yet so can't really comment on its durability but they are a pretty fun bass.

2. Some seriously good players in this thread. Good work.
My old band from some years ago. For whatever reason it was filmed in B+W by a friend and I happenend to be stood under the only light on stage, not intentional I promise.

3.
I just wanted to share this totally amazing cut - 'Anti Love Song' by Betty Davis (better known for being the ex-wife of Miles Davis).

It's a track from 1973 and Larry Graham is on bass.

As slapping is getting a duffing up in another thread I thought I would be nice about slap - this defines to me what good slap is - dark, chugging and funky as hell.

Betty Davis is one of the great lost artists of music. A VERY interesting woman...

Turn it up and enjoy!

Love that album. Only recently got into it, some immensly smooth bass playing going on through out.

4.
I had a Behringer head, my first bass head, got it out the box and plugged it in at rehearsal and pumph....the smoke set off the alarms :)
Blessing in disguise though...i got my money back (eventually!!!) and got a Hartke 3500...much better amp too!
Aw man. Was it those Ultrabass Behringer things? I used to have one ( still got it actually), set on fire on two seperate occasions. First time during a gig and left this horrible smell in the air and black smoke. Second time I put it down to my own stupid kindness of letting the support bands bassist use it. I went to get something to eat and came back for when we played. Alls fine, set up, sounds good, kick off the set. About 10 minutes into it, my drummer pointed out flames emenating from the fan on the back, then black smoke and finally no sound what so ever. I had a spare head so managed to save the day.
Turns out the previous bands bassist had been using a bass overdrive pedal, with the gain on full, whacked the gain on my head up full and kept knocking the master volume up.
Suffice to say I think this was the main cause of the fire.
Left it for a week and it worked fine after that. Still does to this day even tho it is now retired from my live rig.

5.
The Ergon Carousel i have heard of them where r they from
Well we played Preston earlier this year if I remember correctly. It wasn't our best gig.
We are from all over, Chorley, Wigan, Manchester, Blackburn and Kent.

6. From my travels abroad with bass equipment I have noticed that whatever is said at one end may not hold up at the other. We got charged at the check in desk due to the policy for musical instruments when on our way to Prague once. They said instruments are treated with more care and must be collected from a special "secure" luggage pickup.
Sufice to say this was not the case. They got thrown in with the normal luggage, knocked around. Saving grace was the hardcases they where all packed in ( and padded out by our clothing). Leaving us to dig them out of the conveyor belt at Prague. Other times have seen similar cases. Maybe its my bad luck.

7. Now then. Was recommended to have a look at this forum and sign up by a friend as I have no one to talk about bass stuff with and I am hoping to learn more about my chosen instrument as my knowledge of the technical side is pretty lacking.
Been playing bass for 13 years now, I should be better than I am but sadly not yet. Been recording and touring for a lot of it with my previous bands Narcosis and Atavist, currently playing in The Ergon Carousel and always on the look out for new things to do.
Hope to learn a thing or two from people on here.
Cheer.
