As the setup has worked without noise elsewhere, the lack of an isolated power supply wouldn't seem to be the problem.
Possibly not. But then also possibly. Its a misconception that just because any given piece of gear will usually work flawlessly from day to day, that its not going malfunction if the circumstances conspire. I've been touring internationally for 30+ years and have seen (and heard) a lot of weird stuff.

that would be a bit much wouldn't it? I have 8 going to the MXR Brick and the 9th on it's own powersupply... would have to buy 8 ps and 2 4x4
I think you misunderstand the meaning of isolated. Many multi power supplies, like the MXR Brick, have multiple outlets but they are not isolated from each other. This can cause noise problems in certain circumstances. MXR makes the Iso Brick, a better version of the Brick, to avoid this potential problem and many other manufacturers have products which do the same i.e Voodoo Lab, Coiks etc. Many of these are available with more than 9 outputs.
It is also worth adding up the current consumption of all those pedals and checking that you are not exceeding the rating of the PSU. That can cause noise.

I'm also not a fan of these metal framed pedal boards. Its easy to set up earth loops via the pedal chassis and frame. I'd recommend covering the whole of the front of the frame with velcro in order to isolate the pedals from the frame i.e so none of the outside of the pedals (or the jack plugs) are touching the bare metal of the board.

I think I see your problem there- that daisy chain power cable. You should be running all these pedals off a dedicated power supply with fully isolated outputs.
Also- what is that PSU rated at?

yes hum is more appropriate i think... no difference when i moved or touched the strings
OK. Give us your exact signal chain.

A first step would be to try to clarify the terminology. Are you sure you mean buzz and not hum? Many people use these two words interchangeably but they are not the same thing. Hum would be indicative of an earthing problem and the causes of it (and the solutions to solve it) are many and varied. Buzz, however, is usually inducted noise from another source and must be dealt with differently.
So firstly, was the noise a constant tone that didn't change with the position of your gear or your orientation i.e which direction you faced? Did the noise go away if you touched your strings or another part of your gear (amp chassis, jack plug casing etc)
When you moved around or changed direction did the volume or tone of the noise change?

Hello All.
I've received a message from a friend of mine earlier today saying a Jetglo 4001 with a JB pickup in the bridge position appeared on Facebook UK marketplace this morning. However, the listing seems to have disappeared and does not also appear under the 'Sold' category.
I didn't get a notification from Facebook about a new listing (no surprise there though, considering how ropey that place is) and I can't see a duplicate listing on Ebay, Reverb or Gumtree or in the 'For Sale' sections here and on Talk Bass, which is often the case.
So, I don't suppose, on the off chance, that was it was listed by someone who is also a member here? Please feel free to let me know. Thanks.

I wondered when someone would mention Lemmy. I would refer the Jury to his time with Hawkwind, especially Space Ritual
I couldn't agree more. I was a young lad in the early 80's and only familiar with his Motorhead output (mainly the Overkill, Bomber, Ace Of Spades and No Sleep albums) when I learned about his previous career with Hawkwind. I was recommended to start with Space Ritual and I was astonished at how fluid and melodic his bass parts were compared to Motorhead. 'Lord Of Light' is an excellent example, which is pretty much built around an excellent meandering bassline. 'Down Through The Night' and the high parts of 'Space Is Deep' are of a similar quality. But he gives a great performance on the whole album. Especially so given the number of...er...inspirations the band were habitually partaking in on a daily basis.

I especially love the playing at the start of Fairies Wear Boots.
Yep, this is what I'd go for too.

Be aware of import duty, and VAT is on the purchase price plus shipping plus duty.
This. Puts around 25% on the purchase price of the instrument.
If I was you I'd pad out the old case and bring it back on the plane and saunter nonchalantly through 'Nothing To Declare' at Heathrow.
Not that I'm encouraging tax avoidance, of course.

I bought a Rickenbacker 4001 from ABC Music on St Clements, Oxford in 1989. My first proper famous brand bass guitar- £450. The chap in the shop told me that it used to belong to Alan Jones from The Shadows, apparently he lived locally and they had a few of his basses on consignment.
He had no proof to back this up but I had no reason to disbelieve him as the way I looked and dressed in 1989 would have given no indication at all that I would have been impressed by this fact. Also, I was going to buy it anyway, no need to chuck celebrity provenance into things to make the sale.
Still got the bass, its lovely.

And my Shaftesbury R&&&Kfekker copy with grafted-on Gibson pickup. (Classy guy, me).Much better than you might think.
I appreciate that its now nine years on from your comment, but it wasn't me that raised this thread from the dead.
Anyway, it wasn't this one was it? The only Shafty faker I've ever seen with a Gibbo pickup.

I thought all Ric's had lacquered necks and fingerboards. ?
Dave
There was a short period (early 2020's I think but I'd have to check to be sure, it was fairly recently though) that they issued them with unlacquered boards.

Going back to the comments earlier about the new bridge position. Regardless of whether you like the colour of this instrument or not (that's another discussion) here's a good example of how it spoils the look. That gap in the binding is usually hidden by the tailpiece but with the whole assembly moved forward it just makes the guitar look unfinished IMHO.

I can add to the hopefulness for you. I finally managed to reacquire my old ACG fretless bass that I (stupidly) sold 12 years go. I got it back last week.
Congratulations. That's great to hear. Stories like yours do give me hope.

Macca's bass turning up after 51 years should give you hope!
It does. Even though I don't have his profile or resources, I'll still keep searching.

Looks like a 4003W, like Simon C's, but with a nice mirror 'plate.
No skunk stripe though, and what is the deal with the TRC?
Chickenbacker perhaps? -

Just had a quick look at the Hipshot site, and it doesn't look like they make the HB5 anymore. I knew they'd discontinued the BT5 Xtender some time ago.
That does, indeed seem to be true, and they were a drop in replacement (see below). However, there should be sets still out there if you are prepared to search long and hard enough.

Gives me some hope, that's for sure. Although McCartney has a slightly higher profile than me (and considerably more resources too).

I had a mint, still in the box with manual, Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal that I bought for 68 Euros. Then John Meyer started using one and the value went through the roof.
Sold it just before they announced the reissues for £650.
