  1. Hi all - after my next bass, and have narrowed it down to choice of either (both used and a similar price) a very nice Cort B4 20th anniversary, or a Sterling Sub ray HH. I play in an indie / rock covers band btw.
Just bit concerned that the Cort neck may be too close in similarity to an Ibanez SR 300, had one of those before and found it a bit too skinny, but the overall build quality and materials on the Cort look lovely.
The Sterling Sub ray HH - owned one previously (yes the green one in my profile pic) and liked it a lot, but the pre-amp was very hot and some of the build quality left a lot to be desired in it’s price range. This one is a nicer colour than the Cort mind you !
Decisions, decisions….what do you think ?

  2. Hi all,

My Musicman sub 4HH is quite noisy when plugged in directly with a lead, and only really on the settings where both humbucker coils are engaged (or with both humbuckers fully engaged). Fair amount of buzzing which quietens when any metal part of guitar or lead jack touched. And no such issue if using wireless !

I know the pre-amp on these is very hot but not sure that would be an issue ? Or do I need just much better shielded leads (though I’m not using rubbish leads and have tried different ones to no avail).

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Chris

  3. Just popping in to say hi…

I’ve been playing since early 1990’s but gave it up fairly soon and a few gigs after when life got in the way, got back into it with the purchase of a used Yamaha active bass about 8 years ago and currently playing in an indie covers band and hoping to gig soon !

After much swapping about reckon I’ve got to my perfect combination of basses with a Precision, Jazz, Stingray Sterling 4HH, and a Sire Marcus Miller M2 - though still have the old Yamaha too.

    Cheers

    Chris
