Thanks for the link! will geek out later. What vintage is your Ricky btw?

I actually don't have it anymore! I sold it on here last year. Decided after 10+ years of battling with it I would just stick to Jazz basses from now on haha. They just suit me too perfectly.

    It's a 1978 which I purchased in about 2010ish if I remember right.

It sounded great (if that Ricky sound is what you are going for which I loved more than anything when I was younger), but I just ended up preferring both the tone and the feel of my Jazz bass in the end

I don't know whereabouts you are in the UK, but I can pretty much guarantee that there would be an awful lot of people who would be very interested to see your rig if you brought it along to a Bass Bash..!

I'm not sure what a Bass Bash is, but it sounds like something I would enjoy. Always love seeing peoples bass gear.

    I'm based in SW London!

  3. I have been planning on doing a full rig rundown on my Youtube channel for a while but I have a new bass on order and kind of want to wait until that arrives before I make the video, but I can quickly list my gear here if you are interested.

My main bass is a MIJ Geddy Lee Jazz bass from the mid-late 2000s, and I play that with Rotosound Swingbass66 strings. I have a Tech-21 GED-2112 Sansamp and a Trace Elliot GP12X  (distorted sound and clean sound) which I blend to get the bass sound I want. Those go into a Palmer PDI-05 speaker simulator. It's a similar setup to what Geddy used in the Test for Echo era, which is my favourite tone of his.

Here is my Youtube for anyone interested: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4dlAoqg21GSUqNZX3GuA9w

  4. I didn't see this thread until I googled us to find the link for the tickets to our gig haha

I'm the bass player in this band (Invisible Airwaves)!

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. Lovely to hear.

And can confirm, Tamas is a very cool guy  :D

Maybe see some of you in June!

  5. Yeah my Burner 6 which is listed here is going to a guy in September for £2000 (assuming it doesn't fall through or anything)

I would imagine a BT would get at least 1.5x more than my Burner... I've seen 6 string BT's on reverb for upwards of 6k in the past year or so. Admittedly reverb keeps the final sale price quite well hidden so they might not have got that asking price...

When I look back at those tickets I now realise how lucky I was and how much I was inspired by Geddy, Phil Lynott, Michael Anthony, Jimmy Bain, Steve Harris, John McCoy and Neil Murray to persevere with the most enduring passion of my life.

I've never been inclined to have tattoos, but if I ever did, something paying testament to those formative experiences would be top of the list and none better than Rush' Hemispheres. Awsome.

That is a bloody good lineup of bass players haha.

I was lucky enough to see Geddy multiple times, Les Claypool and Mark King three or four times each and saw Chris Squire play once. Those are the guys I have been most inspired by over the years. There really is nothing like being in the same room as them watching them do their thing. Masters at work. I just hope I get to see Geddy play live again at some point!

  7. Hi Basschat

My dream bass has become available and it's time for me to raise some funds to buy it! Sadly this means I will have to sell my Rickenbacker, so here it is. I always wanted a Rickenbacker as a young bass player after I saw Geddy playing his on the Exit Stage Left dvd, and was lucky enough to save up and buy this one about 12 years ago (can't remember exactly when, but roughly that long ago). It's a really cool instrument, and is a totally iconic sound, but I have become much more of a Fender guy as I have gotten older and play this Ric a lot less than I used to.

It's a 1978 4001 in Jetglo and I would say it's in very good condition for a bass this old. It was recently serviced at Charlie Chandlers guitar experience (around 6 months ago) and has only been played a few times since then for my Youtube covers. It stays in its hard shell case the remainder of the time, so has been very well looked after in its time with me. I've tried to get pictures of all the little chips etc to fairly represent the condition of the bass.

Here is a video of me playing it on my channel so you can hear it in action:

I've based the price on others I have found listed on various sites from similar years, but I'm very happy to negotiate (since there is a bass I want to get before it sells) so please feel free to send me any pms or offers if this is of interest to you. I would like to get the sale done as quickly as possible! Would really like to sell to a big Rickenbacker fanboy who will love the instrument the way it deserves, so if that's you, then please get in touch

    Thanks

  8. Hi basschat users

For sale is my 1992 Ken Smith Burner 6 in blue. I bought this bass around 10 years ago during a 'Les Claypool plays a 6 string so I should as well' period of my playing and used it as one of my primary instruments for several years. More recently however, I tend to just play on my Fender Jazz and feel no urge to play on any other basses which means this baby gets very little use. I can't see myself ever going back to 6 strings and could do with the money for my synth GAS, so it's about time I moved it on to a new owner who might play it more!

Price is a little lower than I have it listed on other sites (due to the crazy cut they take from the sale) but I don't want to go much lower than this. Of course feel free to pm me offers in this ball park and we can chat.

I would prefer collection only given the value of the instrument. I'm also very happy to drive to anyone who isn't too far away from SW London.

    Thanks

Possibly the most honest introduction ever!

You don't by chance want to buy a 2006 Jaguar X150 that has developed a habit of overheating in traffic?

Haha I tend to deal in the 'less than £1k bracket' for gear, so maybe if you want to sell me your Jaguar for a couple of hundred quid we could talk business :)

  10. I'll have a look and see if I can find any old posts! This was probably 6+ years ago that I last logged in so don't remember much about it. I bought lots of things on here though so will go and have a look to see if I can find any of the old threads I messaged on. Thanks for the help all

And yeah, I might have a slight GAS problem xD But I wouldn't change it even if I could!

  11. Hi

I used to use this forum for all my bass purchases and always found it to be a great place to find gear. Thought I would make a new account (can't remember my old details) so I could continue hunting for more stuff to add to my setup.

I'm basically just a massive Rush nerd who wants to play bass like Geddy Lee and spend most of my time playing his basslines :)

I have a Youtube channel where I do Rush bass covers so anyone interested can check it out (Hemibass)

I bought my Ric and my Steinberger from members of this forum (about a decade ago), so if you guys are still around I can assure you your old basses have been well loved since selling them to me!

I needed to do an introduction post in order to post on the marketplace, so now that this is done, time to go throw some money away :D

    Nice to meet you all
