  1. Since the problem doesn’t occur at home it will be harder to diagnose, but cable testing is a good start, not just audio but also power, maybe there is something wrong with the ones you use to daisy chain.

Someone more knowledgeable may be able to comment on using the wireless to power more pedals.

You didn’t say which caline you use, but maybe this helps:

I hope it’s ok to post links to talkbass here.

The result doesn't have to be degradation, but somewhat changed behaviour of certain fx, especially the family of OD/dist/fuzz.

Buffers usually have super low output impedance. A hi-Z output (once more: this is not about signal voltage levels) bass may drive the pedal in a different way, and this results a different sound.

That is the exact reason I ended up here. I have a fancy Morningstar ml10x, but the buffer changes my tone in a way that I just cannot enjoy.

For disclosure, I play a Rick with flats into tube amps, so for someone who prefers rather bright bass tones the buffer may be great.

Actually I don't have a YouTube channel but it's a good suggestion and I'll knock up a demo next week.

Apart from selecting pedals and blending the signal, rather than having them daisy chained, the tri mixer also helps control input/output levels to optimise the gain structures. Channel one has the Seamoon which I'm running as just a LPF (great for low end punch), channel two is the supafunk as that doesn't like a hot signal and works better clean, channel three has the octamizer and Fwonkbeta/fuzz (via the aby looper). Input to the tri is via a comp and output goes to the grape phaser/echo/reverb. Once you get your head around it, it's quite logical. PS my fav pedal on the board is the grape phaser which is so funky!

I have a vfe mini mu and an iron ether xerograph on my board and hope once I got the looper situation sorted to maybe fit my nano bassballs on there as well.

The grape phaser sounds very funky indeed, but I promised myself not to buy a phaser without volume control again, since it’s last in my chain.

  4. Thanks for the other recommendations

That’s the one I’m thinking about, my guess is that the two rows make it easier to turn on multiple pedals at the same time, like 1-3 and 4-6 but also 4,3,2.

I will make a paper model tonight to see how it fits on my board and if it’s not too high for my likings.

  5. Thanks a lot !

    Sounds like a cool setup.

Always used to be a bass-cable-amp guy but got into pedals during the pandemic and now have too many and not talented in dancing.

  6. Just found 46 for sale threads.

I tried two different loopers before, both programmable with buffers and both degraded my clean and effected tones.

So now I’m looking at true bypass loopers.

All I want is to have a few switches in the front row of my board to control the pedals in the second row with no change in tone or volume level.

So… anyone using bright onion products here, and how ?

Pics of your pedalboards are more than welcome !

  7. Feature and size wise the Wombtone is hard to beat, 2/4/6 stages, mix and volume control, midi…. and it sounds great in the YouTube videos.

But the prices… and no one to be found in the EU so another 25% on the asking price plus shipping for me.

You could buy two or three other cool phaser pedals for the price of one Wombtone.

I’ve just measured another Cog pedal, not the T-47, although they should be more or less a standard size. H 118mm, W 94mm, D 33mm

I think there was talk of a smaller unit with top jacks potentially seeing the light of day.

    Thanks !

Those smaller units won’t come before 2024 according to the latest fb post.

Must check tonight if that does fit on my board.

BTW the other flanger that seemed good is the Alexander F.13 flanger.   It seems pretty well functioned.   There’s an older version.1 which can be got for around £120 on evilBay and a newer version.2 at £160ish.   I’d like to hear one, but like most of the ‘less-mainstream’ brands, nobody stocks them, …you just have to buy to try unfortunately.

That one is on my radar too. There is one on reverb in France but it’s a, at least in my opinion, ugly limited edition and yeah, no return either.

Also thinking about the Alexander Wavelength which has chorus/phase/flange in one tiny pedal but it’s out of stock at Thomann too.

I cannot fit 3 more individual pedals on my board so a multi modulation pedal is something to think about like a boss md200.

By the way do you people flange just your clean signal or anyone putting it on top of octave-fuzz-filter-whatever?

Also something I like is throwing on an always on light chorus as it just gently modulates the bass enough to pop above the mix every now and again and gives it a spacey feeeeel.

May I ask which chorus you are using?

  11. I have a cioks for my board and recently bought a 1spot for the pedals I don’t have on the board.

I daisy chained 5 pedals, one digital and 4 analog and it was dead quiet.

Usually I’m in the buy once, cry once team but for those two pedals I would try the 1spot first. It doesn’t cost much and always good to have one around, even if you decide to upgrade.

  12. How much you want to spend?

    used or new ?

Should the pedals be readily available or you want to chase unicorns?

Are you happy with 1-5 knobs or you like to spend time in front of a computer to fine tune every parameter possible ?

You could get a Behringer compressor, octave and chorus for about 100 for all 3 of them, but also spend 300+ on a compressor alone (Cali 76...), and then there are multi-effects like like the hx stomp that offer almost everything in a small package.

  13. My tracking history didn’t update since Monday, it’s still accepted at the post office.

Let’s see how/if it makes it to the continent. It’s just my second pedal purchase this year and hopefully it will come before the weekend. It’s my first time dealing with Royal Mail so I don’t know what to expect.

  14. There is a non bass jr for sale locally. It’s 160 euros, which is way less than the cheapest I found on reverb.

I never owned a compressor but finally want to see what all the hype is about.

The other one I’m considering is the Fairfield Accountant, size and feature wise unbeatable but I have the feeling I will not get a another chance to buy a diamond for that price and I should just grab it.

Took another attempt on deciding which pedals to put on my board.

The Octron sounds great with the just the sub but the upper octave adds so much, almost never have the dry engaged though.

My “classic” synth sound is Octron into Big Muff then into one of the Bass Balls. In the pick there is a Phase 90 but i constantly switch between it and an Ehx Small Stone and currently fighting against the urge to purchase another phaser.

My favorite sound at the time is Octron-Doom2-MiniMu.

Never owned a compressor and think about getting one to see what it can do for my setup. The Fairfield Accountant is intriguing.
