  1. I'm selling my beautiful custom made (in 2016) De Gier Soulmate bass. This is De Gier's version of the P bass. The specs are as follows:

    Mode: 4 String
    Bodywood: Alder
    Fingerboard wood: Maple
    Inlays: Dots
    Pickups: Lollar
    Bridge: Chrome
    Tuners: Chrome
Colour: Olympic White, poly base coat underneath nitrocellulose body finish
    Pick guard: Vintage Tortoise
Strap: De Gier strap deluxe brown

Aside from some natural age signs (see picture 4), the bass is in mint condition, and It sounds and plays amazingly well. The last time I played it was at a jazz festival in Lisbon in 2017 and it has remained practically untouched since. For personal reasons I stopped paying music, hence why I'm selling it. It deserves better than sitting in its case all year.

If you have any questions about the bass please feel free to ask.

I will consider shipping but a collection in person (Birmingham, UK) is recommended.

    Price £2000

  2. Hi Dietmar,

Like all the Walter Woods amps that I have tried, I would say that the best way to describe them is that they are very neutral sounding. In fact they are the most neutral sounding amps that I have ever tried. The eq is powerful so you can play around depending on the room's acoustics or if you have a specific tone you are looking for, but essentially the magic is in its ability to amplify a sound without over colouring it. Daft as it sounds, that is no mean feat, especially when amplifying acoustic/electro-acoustic instruments.

These neutral properties are equally appreciated in good electric instruments that just need amplification rather than tone shaping; which is why many electric players use them too.

I'm not sure if I've answered your question? If you are interested to find out more, you can also find lots of literature about these amps on various bass/double bass forums - notably TalkBass.

  3. This is the holy grail of bass and double bass amplification. It’s renowned and unrivalled for its legendary clear sound and light weight portability. This amp is used and revered by some of the finest players: John Patitucci, James Genus, Richard Bona, Victor Wooten, Chick Corea, Jim Hall...
These amps are rare, particularly the blue light model. It is the most powerful of the Walter Woods amps. This piece is in perfect condition and comes with a gig bag. I’m selling as I’m no longer touring/gigging.

    Key info:
    2 channel 1200W Bass Head
    -input jack
    -gain
    -bass EQ
    -tone balance
    -treble EQ
    -mid EQ
    -mid frequency sweep
    -effects send
    -effects receive
    -master volume
-send mix (allows you to blend the original signal with the effects return)

    Master features:
-pre/off/post toggle for the DI jack
    -DI jack (1/4")

    Back panel:
    -power switch
    -two 1/4" speaker jacks
-small toggle to switch voltage (hidden inside heat sink so you can't bump it).

Collection in person (Birmingham, UK) or I can look into shipping upon request.

  4. David Gage Czech Ease Original Design with golden brown veneer.

Lightweight flight case (underweight at airport check-in) and soft cover.

I bought the bass from David Gage in New York but the setup was awful. I spent a fair bit of money replacing the fingerboard and bridge (adjustable) as the original was cheap and awful; and had the bass properly setup by my luthier in Paris.

I bought this bass as a "second bass" for travelling with ease. Now that I don't travel anymore I don't really have a use for it and my wife is putting a lot of pressure on me to sell it - double basses take up a lot of space apparently.

The bass came with The Realist (which I still have), but I experimented with multiple pickups over the years and found that the one I currently have on the bass works well (I think it's K&K).

I'm not sure how much this outfit would cost today, but at the time I spent over $5000 at David Gage and that's without shipping and customs/tax charges. But more importantly the bass plays, feels and (to a certain extent) looks very different to the one I originally bought. I think this instrument represents a bargain at the price of £3500.

Please get in touch if you have any questions.
