blood and thunder - Mastodon
First song I learnt to play while singing and I didn't find it too hard so it can't be. -
Listen to music you don't normally listen to. May inspire you.

My old bass teacher had a chapman stick. I never asked for a go though, if you listen to some of the pieces on youtube it sounds fantastic but you have to be soooo good.

Isn't this track on F-Zero GX? , kinda funky, and reminds me of Dream Theatre in a Jazz context.
The bit that starts at around 5.30 pretty cool...until she destroyed it with a pitch blend... -

This is why top artist should all keep blogs, containing a short list of what instruments they have used on certain days for certain tracks.
I can think of a few examples where a player has used two, sometimes even three different basses on a single track... -
lol, this is turning into a bit of a search and rescue the information session. Anything anybody else wants to know bout flea while we have our noses stuck in the history books?

Simple answer for your question - go to shop, try out basses, buy the one you like.

My first bass tutor was actually a classical guitarist, Philip Booth, who as a person and as a muscian one of the most delightful people I have ever met. To me he represents a quality of musicmanship and skill that if I ever reach (doubtful) I would hope I would of done pretty well for myself.
Stevie Wonder to me is just amazing, great song writer.
Michel Camilo is again an amazing composer and player, and just flirts through styles with ease.
BUT OVERALL I think I admire musicians with a great sence of melody, melody always draws me whether its bass, keys, strings, orchestral...whatever!!!!
Metal Sound??
