Are the necks like a jazz profile on these?
-
Thanks folks. Yes that’s it then.
I couldn’t see it on equipboard or anything unless it’s hidden in the comments. -

Don't think I've ever had so many views on an item and not a single nibble... Wrong time of the year I suppose!
It's one of those things that people don't realise how good they are until they try them.
I have two, need to sell one, and just can't believe they don't move as fast as they should on ebay or here.

Hi Lefty, have you binned these yet?
I have two Squiers I need to sell and ship.

Ignore me, it's late and I'm a muppet.
Didn't realise it's the same video because you linked a timestamp, and it's not the answer video. *sigh*.

But I haven't posted the answers yet? Lol........btw, the answers should be up Saturday.....the p bass challenge has been posted in multiple places and im trying to get as much input as possible......
I saw the one you added on reddit. It had the 5 basses on it.

This is the same price I paid for a VM 70's in 2011.
And I probably got ripped off at that price because I knew nothing at all (first bass) and got it in HMV in Oxford st.

Laura Lee from Khruangbin uses an SX Jazz Bass live and has done from start. Don’t know if it is modded in any way.
Given their increasing popularity in the past few years I wonder if Fender have ever been in touch 🤔
She had the pickups replaced.

What's also surprising in the budget theme of the discussion, is that she doesn't have effects either, just a tuner. And in the video she says she uses it because it anchors her cable near the mic.
I saw a local blues trio the other month, and the bassist absolutely nailed it.
He was also using the SX jazz, also just the tuner and he didn't know about her. So in a week I found two people using exact same setups independent of one another.
He was even just using the house amp, so none of that "This is my unique tone" kind of thing.
Those SX guitars are bloody good. I just got a 5 string Warwick-alike the other day and it's probably £200 too cheap for how it plays.

Mike Kerr of Royal Blood uses a Gretsch Junior Jet bass. The mountain of gear he plays it through definitely isn't budget
Is that not more due to the short scale of that bass combined with the pedigree, rather than the "budget"?

I flipping called it!
Not bad for a rookie player.

What about a switching pedal like this, and stick the preamp DI box on the Line Out?

Someone sniped a Fender Cowpoke from me today, with 2 seconds to go.

I’ve seen comments here and there that the necks are nice on these, can anyone shed any light on the neck profiles on them? I mean the front to back thickness mainly. If anyone is able to measure with calipers just before the 1st fret that would be really helpful. Are they on the slim or chunky side of a P neck? Thanks
About 22mm

Well it's 502 now.
I'm guessing it's all 5, and he simply messed with tone and where he hit the string to prove that there is no one P-bass tone.
There is no spoon!

Hey, yes it's still available.
I'm in St Albans so can pop over quite easily.
Would an evening or daytime collection work best for you?
Also, how soon do you want it gone? In can do evenings in the next two days (11-12th Aug) or during daytime from Tuesday (16th)
Cheers.
Pete.

Hello mate.
Are you still trying to shift this or has he moved house already?

Yes that’s Simon Amthons
He was an old school bass player
Definitely worth preserving his signature
Perhaps seek the advice of a sympathetic luthier who knows what he’s doing
Good luck
Thank you so much.
Do you have any background info on him or know where I can find more?
I'm glad I checked. I was worried that someone had gotten the neck signed by a hero of theirs and I didn't want to just erase history like they did with the Squier serial.
I'll do what I need to preserve it or make sure it ends up with someone that will appreciate it.

I picked up a dirt cheap Squier JB that someone made a godawful attempt to add a fender decal to. Looked like my first airfix attempt.
I got the guitar mainly to learn repairs and modding without risking my others, and was wondering if anyone knew the person who signed it.
Wondered if there was any back story to them putting a bit of effort into making an Affinity look a bit like a much older jazz, like a '72 or similar.
Probably just some teen but I was curious and thought I'd check around, before I sanded it down.
Cheers.
