This design and colour just supercool! How is the Sadowsky jazz sound when switched to single coil in the bridge pu?
-
Looks like the pickup is in the right spot. I assume it does that growly Stingray sound and these necks are superb! I tried a Kingston Z5 and it had one of the tightest low B.
-
I tried a DW Spector back in late 2000's and still the best neck I have ever played. Super cool bass GLWS

Interesting - that contradicts what is on their website - it says 42mm nut width for the 4 string and 45mm for the 5 string. Goddamn it will they stick to one story? I don't mind if there has been a spec change, but update your site if that's the case!
So annoying isn't it? Nut width and string spacing should be specified in a straightforward way. How can you gain trust when they keep contradicting?

Oh yes. Looks better now...

Sire headstock basically looks like grandpas socks pulled on a fence, and that Z7 Stingray lower horn is a lump..... Yet, they nailed the Stingray tone and Sire offers the HS version with 12" radius and stainless steel frets for around £600...I want one

Absolute bargain! I wish these were a direct replacement on my CS.

These Yamaha cabs sound terribly good and Krysbass is a top guy to deal with.

* Z7 only, not the Z3.
Yes but the point is they offer these extras at much lower price level
-
Worth mentioning that these have stainless steel frets like the US Music Man basses and unlike Ernie Ball, Sire produces the HS configuration.

I played DJ5s a few times and if you like the jazz sound and feel this is an absolute deal. The neck is rock solid with graphite bars in them.

I remember back in the 2000s when first tried these at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt. I was totally blown away by the quality and playability. especially when I compared these to the Fender American Vintage 75 jazz. Fenders were overpriced with crap setup and some QC faults, but Bacchus basses were impeccable.
This money is a steal for a high-end jazz. GLWTS

You can easily have these modified with upgraded electronics. I bet an East or Aguilar pre with a parallel/ series switch on the chrome plate this would be a tone monster.
-
Agree, an insanely good price for this monster.

Yeah, I imagine once the 2023 MXs come out they'll have to discount it even more heavily to shift it.
Hope so. This Sad has been on their website among tonnes of half priced Chinese made for quite a long time and they cannot move it. They still want to stick to this high price, but I assume too at some point they have to drop it. This series is gone and will not have a revival year like any classic Stingray, Sabre, or 60s jazzes etc.. It is exceptional bass, but kinda dead. For 1500 you could get a G&L USA or Sandberg with much higher resale value.

Guitarguitar still have one…
I know, they've been trying to sell it for around 1500 (the only one I found). They should drop the price with a further 20 % then it would sell.

Gotta say I prefer the Fender. Much nicer, characterful tone. It has an 'identity' that the Sadowsky seems to lack....
Great video. I prefer the Sadowsky for the even tone and guess higher built quality

not quite correct...
Sadowsky Japan had two original ranges - the higher end Japan only Sadowsky TYO and the Sadowsky Metro which were available over here. I think they were manufactured by ESP.At some point the line that were Sadowsky Metro with "Sadowsky Guitars" on the headstock became known and labelled as Sadowsky Metroline with I don't think any differences other than ones that affected all sadowskys- I can't remember anyone saying anything negative about them (other than the price went up, but it was the post Brexit pound devaluation that caused that).
Roger then wanted to make a cheaper line again - which was the Japanese Sadowsky Metro Express which were built by a Japanese factory for him that wasn't the same dedicated workshop as was doing the construction of the original Japanese Sadowsky. I'm not entirely sure what happened, whether there were too many QC issues being caught or they just couldn't make enough of them fast enough but they didn't last long.
Then our friend Mr Wilfer got involved and everything changes, all the hardware is different and presumably made to different price points for different ranges - so you no have the odd Sadowsky NYC from Roger's workshop and then the German made Sadowsky Custom Shop, Sadowsky Masterbuilt and Sadowsky Metroline, and the much cheaper Sadowsky Metro Express made in China.
All correct, and just one thing to add. There was no QC issue with MIJ Metroexpress but rather production on a larger scale and distribution. Warwick seemed to be the best solution for Roger as they have all the facilities in Germany and China and massive distribution capacity and connections (Thomann etc...) I am sad to see the MIJ Metroexpress go as they a way better construction than the Chinese ones. The headstock logo was the same ,the hardware and electronics also, and the necks had graphite bars....All of them gone now and it is super hard to find any used for sale.

This is superb construction IMO and 100% Japanese.Top deal. Why is this still here?

Yeah. My thoughts exactly.
Assembled.
Correct. It is just marketing and actually they assemble the amp from Chinese or Korean made components. However, the quality can be still equally good as anything else that was made in the USA or UK from domestic components (if that business still exist…)
