1. I would also be interested in peoples opinions.

I've tried the iRig and it's OK but not great (nice and portable though!!) and my iPhone has now died so I'm looking at a possible replacement.

The latest Tascam mp3 trainer (GB-10) hasn't got great reviews and I don't think it has the ability to drop the bass out like the old CD versions have.

So any experience of CD-BT2 compard to the mp3 versions would be great and also comparisons to the latest Pandora (5) would be appriciated.

    Thanks

  2. NOW SOLD

    Hi

I have now upgraded so my old Ashdown MAG 210T Deep cab is for sale.

Its the carpet covered version and is a bit tatty on the corners but new protectors would fix that. Sounds great.

Specs are 2x10" speakers with tweeter. 8 Ohm 200W.

I'm only for £60 for it, but pick up from Harpenden, Hertfordshire only.

    Thanks
    Robin

  3.
I wouldent rule out another Ibby, I'm looking up a sr1400 premium :)
Ohhhh now that is a good looking bass! I couldn't find any online clips of what it sounds like. Just the NAMM video. Any idea when it will hit the UK??

  4.
How about a Thumb 5 BO? :)

If you want something similar to your SR's neck, I think they're quite jazz-shaped. You could start there. :)
I'd be tempted if I wanted a 5 string... But I struggle enough with 4!! :-)

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I also have a G&L L2000 Tribute which I used to love playing until I got the SR500 and found that neck much more playable. I keep trying with it but I'm sure it doesn't sound right at the moment. I need to take it to a decent luthiers and get it checked out - local guitar shop said it was fine but it still sounds wrong to me. A trip to the Bass Gallery is required.... So while I'm there I might as well try a few other basses out :-)

I definitely want to try some Warwick's but not sure which models and a Fender Jazz or 2 are on my list. I'm also happy to try bigger necks again so will probably pick up a P of some description.....

  5. I currently play an Ibanez SR500 which I love - It's so easy to play and has a good range of tones, however I've just been paid a bonus and can afford another bass. :)

I play good old pub rock at the moment but I want some think that will be versatile enough incase that changes. Budget is probably about the £1000 mark and i'm happy to go 2nd hand to get the most for my money.

I've always loved the look and sound of Warwick's but never got my hands on one yet so some feedback on the pro's and con's of the different models would be great.

If possible I would like something that's a bit different in sound to the SR but still with a similar neck :-)

I'm hugely tempted by the Warwick Streamer LX 4 thats in the for sale section (if it hasn't gone!) but am loath to spend that sort of money without having even tried out the make and model.

I know that what ever I get the best way is to go and try as many as possible and see what I like but I'd quite like a short list before doing this.

    Any suggestions????

  6. My second ever gig in my local pub - Gibraltar Castle in Harpenden. We are a rock/Indie covers band.

Went down amazingly. We have only been going for about 8 months and have 19 songs gig worthy... We played those and then the crowd (and landlady) wanted us to play more... So we played a bad version of Times Like These (we haven't got it gig worthy yet!!) but it still went down well... We ended up replaying 3 songs to which half the pub where dancing away.

    Awesome night!!!!!

  7.
I was thinking of the possibility of using a preamp like a Hartke VXL and then going straight into
a cheap but powerful power amp like this one power amp
Why go power amp? For not a lot more than those 2 new you could get a new Hartke LH500 - 500W into 4 ohms. I would have thought this would be enough power.... Keep an eye out for a second hand one in the classifieds and get it for even more of a bargain!

  8. Due to my recent purchase of a Hartke LH500 I now have my old Warwick amp spare and for sale.

It's a Sonic II which there doesn't seem to be much on the net about, but it is 200W into 4 Ohm, has a 4 band graphic equaliser, low boost, high boost, effects send and return, line out, DI out with pre switch, headphones socket and mute switch. Outputs are 1 1/4 inch Jack and a Speakon.

Amp will come with a power cable and an OBBM speakon to speakon cable.

I'm based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire so feel free to PM me if you would like to try this amp out.

I bought of the bay about 10 months ago, and apparently it had been serviced just prior to that. The chap before me did gig regularly but it has only been used for rehearsals while I have had it. I have upgraded to get more power and I did use to drive it hard so it's well used :-) As it has been gigged etc there are lots of scratches etc but no major damage, and it still works excellently.

As it is so well used I'm only looking for £75 for it so it will suit someone on a budget just getting a rig together, or a Warwick fan looking for a bit of history!!

I would prefer collection but I could send by courier for an extra charge.

    Pictures below.

    Thanks

  9. As you are in Hatfield then you have Machine Head in Hitchin and Music Dept. in St Albans very close. Both will have a few basses, and are happy to let you try. I'm sure they will also be happy to spend time giving you advice too. I picked up my G&L L2000 Tribute from Music Dept second hand after trying loads in both shops.

I also take lessons from a guy in Hatfield so pm me if you want his contact details for a few lessons.
