The title says it already a little bit: I am looking for an aftermarket Pbass pickup that has (more or less) the same characteristics as the pickups found in late 60's - early 70's P-basses.

I have an 2013 American Standard, in which the custom shop pickup was placed. Since it was quite mid-scooped, I swapped it for a Pure Vintage '63. That does give the bass a real, fat P-bass tone. But it seems that de pickups in mentioned era have somewhat more pronounced high-mids, or something more open than the PV'63.

Who can help me out with advice?

Hey fellow bassists,

After quite some tim lurking, I decided to sign up at Basschat, as it seems to be a good and safe place to be as a bassplayer.

I am in my fifties, have been playing since I was 14.

Started playing on a new Ibanez Roadster 824, later on a '78 Fender P, a Status Energy 4, sold them, bought another bass. And so my quest to the perfect bass went on. Basses came and went.

It seems I am settled down to some basses I really like! Currently I play a 1994 Warwick Thumb BO5, a Fender American Standard Precision, a Warwick Streamer LX5, a Washburn AB20 acoustic bass and a Fender Jazz.

Last year I built my first bass form scratch, my take on the Fender Precision 1954. Strung with flats. It has become my main bass at the moment.

I have had quite some amps over the years, but I have settled down to a Markbass Little Mark3 with a Vandekley 112MNT cab. I usually don't use effects, just a simple compressor and sometimes a Boss Chorus.
