1. I traded my OLP 5 String for Steve's Laney combo amp. A great piece of equipment in great condition. A gentleman to meet and to deal with, Steve was very flexible and delivered the amp to my door. I would recommend Steve as a trader/buyer/seller and a thoroughly nice man to boot!

2. TRADED FOR LANEY COMBO 12/12/10

I bought this OLP MM3 5-String new in 2001 when I was playing the bass a lot but never played it enough to develop as a 5-String player. It has been gigged a few times but it was mostly used for studio work between 2001 and 2004.

I just got a lovely new guitar from BurritoBass here on Basschat and have no amp to play it through so I want to pass on a good guitar that has not been appreciated by me to someone who has an amp they need to get rid of! I am looking for a practice amp and I am open to all offers.

Here are some details on the guitar (some of it is repitition from the above)

Its a 5-String OLP MM3
Black body, white scratchplate
It is made in China
I bought it new in 2001
It cost me 350 pounds
I gigged it a few times but used it in the studio mostly
It hasn't seen much use in the last six years

Ideally I would like to trade with someone who is an hour or less away from me (Coventry).
Drop me a line if you are interested or have any questions!

3. I bought a beautiful US Fender Precision from this gentleman yesterday. He was totally professional, friendly and helpful. A pleasure to meet you and a pleasure to do business with you! Love the guitar and I was pretty impressed with Gram and Pete too! Thanks for your hospitality, for a great guitar and for a very easy and pleasant transaction.

Masive recommedation! :) :)

4. I played in a covers band for a year or two when the first band I was in broke up. I don't regret it even though some of the songs were very painful to mine ears! When I moved here 3 years ago I took some drum lessons, just to keep myself busy musically. I think any kind of band activity is a good idea to make sure you don't lose your love of playing. In terms of setup, I agree with the above.

5.
I remember Westone as a cheap and cheerful range of instruments of Far Eastern origin. A notch below the usual Japanese names. It doesn't sound like a good deal to me, but it's not my money. The proper experts will be along soon.
That's exactly the kind of info I'm after - thank you Stevie :-)

6. Hello everyone

I just joined yesterday. I have been playing bass for years without knowing a whole lot about bass guitars.

I played a Westone in a shop yesterday. I had never heard of the make before and it sounded pretty nice.

It is called Westone Spectrum GT Bass and the shop owner reckons it was made in 1985.

It's in reasonable condition and on sale for £199. I had a look at some older threads and did a google search on Westone but I was hoping that some of you might be able to enlighten me on these guitars and whether or not it sounds like a good deal.

thanks in advance

Cathal

7.
BTW, what sort of money are you looking at for a four string? New or S/H? There are LOADS for sale on here so give us an idea of your preferences.
Cheers for the welcome! A funny coincidence that you are from Cov, too!

As for the money side of things - times are hard etc, etc so I was hoping for either a straight trade with my 5 string but I could rustle up £50 or £60 on top that if I found a good 4 string. I had been looking at cheap, new guitars. I have nothing against S/H, just didn't really know where to look.
I shall peruse what's available here - thanks for the tip!

8. Hello basschat

I have been playing bass for about 15 years and I really love it. I have played in various bands over the years one serious originals band we kept it going for about seven years and then called it a day in 2004. Since then I have been busy with home recording and occasional just-for-fun-bass-playing. Have not done much in recent years due to retraining, new career and moving here from Ireland.

I am on the verge of trading my OLP 5 String for a sturdy, reliable, affordable 4 string (not sure what to go for) and just before I took it to the local guitar shop a friend told me about basschat and convinced me to register.

I haven't got a clue about gear really so I am looking forward to learning from all of you! I don't use forums either so please excuse me if I have made a mess of this post.

all the best

Cathal in Coventry
