1. Pietro sold a lovely vintage G&L 2k, and the instrument was everything he promised, and more. Great communication, expedient and fairly priced shipping. The photographic documentation in the post spoke for itself, yet Pietro was happy to elaborate on all pertinent aspects upon inquiry. As it turned out, he was most truth-and helpful. Many thanks!

2. I bought an old Ibanez from Tsvetan, bass came exactly as described (the condition of the instrument was certainly not overstated), the deal was very fair and the communication excellent. Shipped quickly and safely (well-packed) across Europe. Thanks!

What is the weight and is it well balanced on a strap?
hi,
my digital personal scale shows 3,4 kgs
the strap balance is fine, this bass plays beautifully both standing and sitting.

6. from the J-retro site:

* Full Bypass - Controlled by footswitch.
* Mid Boost In/Out - Controlled by its own footswitch.
* Balanced & Unbalanced Outputs - XLR Balanced output includes ground lift switch.
* Straight DI Signal - The balanced output is is operational in bypass.
* Internal or External Power - Includes 9V battery box and socket for external power.

A very gentle built-in contour gives immediate colour without detracting from the basic sound of any bass.

8. 600W Powerhouse in a compact lightweight chassis, excellent condition, 1 year full warranty left + lifetime cost-free repair by the AI folks.
Pair with preamp of your choice, suitable for double OR electric bass (and a wide range of other instruments, especially acoustic).

No longer in production, these pure power amps by AI are highly sought after. Very transparent rendition of the input signal, and you won't run out of headroom. Ideally complements a high-class input chain and up to 2 speakers, for a flexible modular live setup.

9. Thanks. There were several inquiries regarding one problem that seems to plague some old Steinbergers, namely a warping of the neck (there is no truss rod obviously in the L2, so if such an unlikely problem occurs, remedies are rather complicated).
I can happily report that this one is completely flawless in that respect. I tried, somewhat clumsily, to document this in an extra pic series available at http://s24.photobucket.com/albums/c40/delg...mview=slideshow
The action is very low, and there is no buzz anywhere on the fretboard.

10.
Wonder if I could claim this on my expenses........
with some creative bookkeeping, why not.-
Certainly makes for a better investment than them hedge fund shares, these days!

11. Thanks Jan (and Ray), I agree with your take on the differences between L2 and XL2 (I also have the latter). The XL neck is *very* slim, which suits my smallish hands better. As for tone, it appears to be very subjective, plus there are different configs available on 80ies Steinbergers. While the L2 does the precision thing very well (it also appears to be very popular among reggae/dub players), it also pumps very convincingly in the bridge PU setting.

Do you still play your XL? Are you familiar with the boomerang?

12.
one of the few genuine innovations in the electric bass world. Good luck with the sale, I can see this going fast!
thanks guys, so true about the genuine innovation part-

AND for touring players who have had their axes refused as carry-on luggage, this baby goes into even the smallest overhead bin, so you'll never be hassled again (once the x-rays at the gate have asserted it is not a machine gun, that is).

13. Hi,

I am selling my Steinberger L2, all original, no chips, frets in excellent shape, ridiculously little wear for its age. This is the original version made in Newburgh, NY (only between 1300-1500 of these were made, accounts differ). Sporting a slightly chunkier neck than its very slim successor XL-2, the L2 also is held in higher esteem by Steinberger aficionados both for his collectability and the overall punchier sound. Also, unlike with the XL-2, you can use your favorite non double-ball-end strings on this bass without any adapter thanks to the ingenious screw retaining mechanism.

Sustain rings forever, dead or even weak spots on the fretboard are non-existant, this is truly one of the best basses ever made.

All original accessories, the plug-in leg rest, the battery compartment cover (both often lost items when you check other L2s offered) are included, PLUS a very clever replacement to the original pivot plate called the Boomerang (also designed by Ned Steinberger), which mounts on the back of the body, in lieu of the pivot plate (also included), and offers far more comfort and positioning options.

Also included is a foldable stand devised specially for these instruments, very solid + safe and almost folds into your jacket pocket

Original (!) gigbag (unlike the bass, this one shows its age).

PRICE DROP to £1500 OBO, plus shipping from Austria.

Thanks
Alexander.
