  1. Hi all just thought id pop back on here after a long spell off. Im currently looking at coming back to playing after a 5 year spell off un fortunately I sold all my gear when I stopped playing wish I had kept my 2006 warwick double buck though. Well off to scoll through the classifieds to see whats for sale.

  2. what about herbie flowers great session guy of the late 60s and all of the 70s then formed sky with john williams and cant remember the drummers name. Flowers played on quite a bit of bowies 70s stuff from what i can remember

  3. another one could be that they did what van halen used to do eddie took his guitar out and every instument was tuned to what ever it was tuned to. i thought i was doing something wrong when i tried learning stones and vh stuff years ago.

  4. my old head of department at perth college once claimed for a cassette radio for her car as she argued that in order to get through all the assesments on time she had to listen to them in the car. she said she wouldnt normally have a cassette radio in the car as she deemed them to be dangerous(a bit of a lie) and wouldnt normally have one for that reason. outcome from the tax man? yes thats fine you can claim the full amount of your in car stereo!! amazing what you can get away with isnt it.

  5. in my experience the desk going into the red isnt too much of a problem as long as it isnt continuesly in the red i.e its only there every now and then. also most power amps have an anti clipping device on them to protect the speakers in cases such as this. from what you have said i presume that the guitarist actually owns the p.a and is being very protective of it. i would also say that his guitar will do pretty much the same thing as your bass when he ups his volume for a solo. next time he takes a solo have a look at the desk!! you will be surprised.

  6. well said nick thats also a good tip alun never thought of that one. the way i transpose on the spot is not to concentrate on the notes so much but to think of the shapes my fingers make on the fret board. not exactley text book but its always worked for me

  7. yeah i had similar experience years ago fortuntely for me the drummer was quite good. only bit of advice i could give really re the different keys is to obviously learn them in key they are supposed to be in then when they decide to change the key just take a few mins to think about the transposition and not rush it. as for timing i think they will be able to tell if its the drummer. another interesting one was auditioning for a band without the drummer on a thursday and then gigging with them on the saturday. man that was scary!!

  8. trace are great i used a series 6 in the early 90s not mine unfortunately but if all goes to plan in the next couple of days ill have myself a nice trace rig to play with. ive never come across anything that has as much versatility as a trace elliot unless your talking about an ampeg stv!!

  9. thanks guys now ive a big problem im now wondering if it will be powerful enough. dont want to run out of volume and then have to get something bigger in the future(only thinking that way cos you know what drummers and guitarists can be like lol) any one got any thoughts on that?

  10. hi zoe been playing bass since i was 13 im now 36 had a couple of years off from playing a while back but couldnt give up on it completely. how about you?
