  1. Lawrence (aka Lozbass) sold me his Wechter ABG. He was a star from start to finish. He even rearranged his heavy schedule and took a long journey on the train just to drop the bass in hand, to a friend of mine who brought it over to me!!!!!! Most highly recommended.

  2. I have only GREAT words for Happy Jack.

It's the second time that I deal with him and the whole deal (trade this time) went perfect, just like the first deal between us. Shame on me that I did not leave positive feedback on the first deal at the time (I was the seller).

    1000% trustworthy

  3. [quote name='leftybassman392' post='532866' date='Jul 5 2009, 01:28 PM']Wow! What a beautiful piece.

Had a quick glance at the Dingwall website and couldn't find any reference to Lefties - anybody know better?[/quote]

NO lefty Dingwalls AFAIK. Because everything is really Custom made, it requires everything to be drawn, designed and manufactured from scratch and that would not cover the expenses involved for a left handed Dingwall

  4. Rob bought my bolt-on headless Status S2 5str yesterday.

We were in contact over the last week to make sure that the deal will run smooth all the way. We had agreed on wire transfer but be cause he would receive the bass before the funds would clear, he proposed Paypal and took the burden of the Paypal fees as well!!!

    STELLAR BassChatter, the least!!!

  5. I've owned 4 Foderas up to this moment and I've kept the two (have played another 3 Foderas, as well). It all boils down to what you think it's worth.

Good materials and construction, good attention to the details, ergonomics are closer to the "old school" side (wide neck and bridge string spacing; not my fave really) but the tone is something very personal and subjective. My R-bass was on par with with the best Foderas I've tried, for a fraction of the price; resale value for the R-bass was not as good, if one bought it brand new. If one person cannot hear the difference between a specific Fodera and another specific bass, then it's not worth to even try to acquire it (no need to generalize, unless one has extensive informed knowledge from personal experience, but even then...). If one person can hear a considerable difference, then by all means it's worth.

  6. I truly apologize for not remembering out right that Peter is GreeneKing. I can only say that both Peter (GreeneKing) as well as Alan (Skelf) along with Zigmondo are great people and I have no hesitation to urge anyone to deal with them!!!

  7. Zigmondo was looking for an ACG bass. It happened that I had an ACG Harlot 5 that I had up for sale (superb bass at all levels but I could not connect with it; there was absolutely nothing wrong with the bass). Alan from ACG and [basschatter X] (need to find out his username here) hooked us up and we started communicating over the matter

He had a Status S2 5str (that I was really interested in) and we traded in a heartbeat

He picked up my ACG and he shipped the S2 to me (the ACG was in London at a friend's place). The Status S2 arrived yesterday and we both are very pleased with the deal. I would not hesitate to recommend Zigmondo, Alan from ACG or [basschatter X] to any of you to deal with them. Great level of communication, trouble free deal

PS my humble apologies to [basschatter X]. I will contact you and place your proper username accordingly, in the thread

PS 2 [BassChatter X] is GreeneKing. Star BasChatter!!!

  8. I have had three encounters with Ed Roman, over three separate deals. All three left a bitter taste in mouth and I would hesitate to recommend dealing with Ed Roman to anybody.

Anyway, back to the topic, Lee Sklar has been using Dingwall basses for both live as well as studio work. I own his first Dignwall and the signed letter of authenticity states that this very bass was used in every Studio recording that required a 5str, from 1995 till 1999. So Lee has been using exactly what he has been endorsing.

  9. I have not tried the latest creations of PRS in the bass field. The old ones I've tried I did not like really (looks were great but I never bought a bass for its looks)

Looking forward hearing how the new line rates

  10. A decent 6str is one 6str that has the least of limitations and allows for a multitude of applications. The tone (though highly subjective) should be even across the board and strings and be versatile enough to fit the styles needed by the player. The bass (or a line/model) should be consistent in terms of ergonomics, playability and most important tone

So far, the best 6str basses that I have played and heard are my Dingwalls (please look at my avatar for a taste of what I mean). I have had the pleasure to own and play some very fine high-end/boutique 6str basses, only to find them falling short at one level or the other. I own three 6 string Dingwalls this very moment and even though they are not cheap, they are worth every penny
