I have a white Jackson 5. It hangs well and stays in tune. The sound was too bland for me and I went passive . I put a Quarterpounder Jazz on and one volume. Your red bass looks nice.

Hi, If you ever wish you sell your blonde jackson please reach out, thanks.

  2. Hi, what did you think of the bass please? I appreciate it has been more than a few years but I'm looking at a fretted fiver on ebay now and there's not much information. Thanks in advance.

  3. Thanks guys. Honestly I don't know much about his ability other than that he's with PMT. I've never had work done on a bass before, I'm only relying on the fact that he works with PMT and I'm trusting (blindly) that they would not be working with someone who does not know what they're doing. I'm new to bass modifications myself so I would not know the first thing to look out for. I have gotten a few tools though, soldering etc, and I'll be getting one or two dirty cheap basses I can learn on with some tutorials. Thanks again for your input on this.

Other than buying a new one, not really.

They are sealed units so no user replaceable parts.

You could contact Bartolini or wherever you bought it from and see if you can get a replacement.

Was it new? If so request a replacement as it's faulty.

I assume your guitar tech has confirmed a supply, 9v, is getting to the module when the Jack is inserted? A lack of power would cause the symptoms you describe.

he said he changed the jack and everything including the push pull active/passive pot but nothing worked. Unfortunately I got it off reverb and it took some weeks before my tech back back from his holiday to work on it so I doubt the seller would want to do anything about it.

You'll probably find that when it's in passive mode, that the pre-amp module is entirely bypassed - hence why it works.

Assuming things are installed correctly, it appears that everything else has been changed, so a faulty preamp module seems all that remains.

Thank you both for your replies. Is there any possible solution to the module issue please?

  6. I bought a bartolini preamp 3 band for my jackson five string bass cmj 5. It has been installed but the Luthier says no sound comes from it when he engages the active mode. He has changed pots, including the push pull, the jack too but nothing has worked. He thinks it's the module, but surely if the module is the problem then there would be no sound at all? any ideas?

So how easy do you think it would be to get BLS 610 in and out of a car?

I don't think it's something a guy can do easily, it won't fit in the boot of most cars either without you putting some marks on it. Maybe I'm overstating it a bit, I'll take a short video of it for you at some point so you can see. Sound wise though I genuinely think this can compete with most cabs out there, even without using the control console for the horn (which is the extra bit), it's crazy.

    Indeed.

The Wharfdales and Albion were made (or at least designed) by the same person (Steve Grindrod). Although Albion were previously a much more boutique amp. The one above looks like it's something cobbled together from leftovers.

Could be a bargain though if it's anything like the Wharfdales. I still have mine (2x10 + 1x15) as my primary cabs. They were an absolute steal, they're still going strong after about 2 years and they still sound great.

These wharfedales are the albion ones rebranded after albion didn't catch on. just a change of plate like you said

I spoke on the phone today with PMT. Asked them about the actually weight of the BLS 610 cab. The weight on the website is correct. They told me it is so heavy that the only courier service they could use is pallet freight. Don't have many left in stock, the store that had one in stock didn't have a tape measure, so can't give dimensions.

oh yeah it is HEAVY, but it has wheels at the back in a sort of tilt back angle which made it easy. I'm very lightweight myself but I moved it fine once it was out the box

I bought this, delivered on friday, paired with a Behringer ultra bass BX2000H head, played it yesterday and WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW, its fabulous, the best I've ever heard. They were designed by the Legendary Steve Grindrod who was with Vox etc before. They just never caught on, but they had good reviews. Wharfedale sold some of them in their own name after the project folded with Albion.  You won't regret getting one of these, or any of the other ones on offer in fact
