Thanks Martin, you've answered my next question as well, I wasn't sure whether it should be 'guitar' or 'line' mode, that's really appreciated! 

Hi there, I'm fairly new to home recording. I have a Tascam DP-03SD which has a 'guitar' preamp built in, my bass sounds OK when plugged in directly. I also have a Sansamp Tech 21 bass driver. My question is, can I use the sansamp with the dp-03sd or could I risk damaging it. My bass is passive. Any help would be hugely appreciated.
