I love what you did there!  I did something similar after I bought a Fender Rascal 5 years back.  Loved everything about it except the quirky body shape - not an aesthetic issue, just that the body extending so far south of the bridge put everything in the wrong place for me.  I bit the bullet and had the bass re-bodied a la P Lyte with a nice piece of walnut that I already had, and that's been my go-to gig bass ever since.  I loved this bass so much that I decided to have the original body re-shaped as the basis for a similar build with the amazingly versatile Rascal pickup/control configuration.  All in all, most satisfying thing that's ever happened in my bass world.  You just have to be ready to take that leap of faith, but that's easier said than done!  All work done by my Basschat buddy Andyjr1515 with build diaries to prove it.

Thank you! thank you for sharing this also...It looks amazing with that Walnut body. So cool that you used the rascal  pickup layout and bridge. I bet it sounds great! :i-m_so_happy:

  3. I just recently finished modding this 30" Schecter Banshee and I am really happy with how it turned out. I basically only ended up using the neck and body but they were both great quality and nice and light. It is very balanced and still light after completing it.

    Mods:

    Schaller tuners

Hipshot B style brass bridge (chrome) w string through option

    Aguilar 4P-60 pickup

Noble 250k pots with cloth wire  &  Sprague .1uf cap.

    Copper shielded all cavities

    Luminlay side dots

    Schaller strap locks

    Ernie Ball string retainer

Custom Maple pickguard & Rosewood control plate

    Custom wood knobs   Maple/Rosewood

LaBella Deep Talkin Flats short scale strings

  4. I'm currently waiting on my 30" Marusczcyk Jake P with Koa top to arrive here in Las Vegas from Germany. I received the finished pic of my build a week ago. Equipped with a passive Nordstrand NP4A pickup and Hipshot hardware. Really looking forward to getting my hands on it in a week hopefully. 😎

What's the longest anyone here has had to wait until their couch shot?

I ask because I'm now into my 17th week, waiting on my Elwood. [Nothing fancy; all specced via the configurator.]

Seems ridiculous to get antsy about a custom built instrument after a mere 4 months... but I've seen so many posters get their couch shots around the 10-12 week mark that it's set my expectations a bit.

Any owners here had to wait longer?

I was fairly lucky that I received my couch pic for my Jake 30" exactly at the 8 week mark a week ago. It is currently on its way to me here in Las Vegas. My last build for my Elwood was right at 10 weeks.

  6. I have 3 short scale basses that I am currently waiting on to arrive. I have been playing medium scales for a few years now since I sold my regular scale basses but I had a mustang P/J model recently and really like the 30" scale also.

I have a Sandberg Lionel Short Scale Bass that is in the mail. A Chowny SWB-1 in Trans White 2020 model on order and I have a Mayones Cali4 mini Bass being built. I'll post some pics of the Sandberg when I receive it next week. 😎
