    The above replies are all good.  Suppose someone hands you a chart.  Your eyes see this:

    || G     | G     | G     | G     |

     | Gm    | Gm    | Gm    | Gm    |

     | Am7b5 | D7b9  | Bm7b5 | E7b9  |

     | Am    | D7    | G     | G     ||

    But your brain needs to think like this:

    || I     | I     | I      | I     |

     | i     | i     | i      | i     |

     | ii7b5 | V7b9  | iii7b5 | VI7b9 |

     | ii    | V7    | I      | I     ||

    Not part of your original question, but it’s useful if you can sightread in treble clef too. I’ve been asked a few times to play the head, and been given the part in treble clef.

    I've been doing treble cleff flashcards for about a month now. Slowly but surely

    Just an observation, feel free to ignore me. I think what you’re doing is brilliant, it’s obviously taken a lot of time and effort. I do think though that a brief welcome or introduction would make the site a lot better. Just something so that visitors landing there know who you are, what you’re doing etc. It’s all very anonymous, you want people to sign up and register, but they don’t know anything about you.

    Perhaps also something so they can see what’s available?

    Like I say, I seriously think it’s great what you’re doing, and good luck with the site, and your studies; I presume from your posts you’re studying music?

    Thanks that's a great suggestion & I will act accordingly.

    I am currently studying Jazz

    If you are straining/cramping, it's a sign you are doing something wrong - most often bad posture, using too much force and similar issues. Do you use a very high action/very heavy strings? Are you playing through an inadequate rig that causes you to have to play very hard in order to be heard or produce the tone you like? There are many things that could be causing it. Using supplements/drugs can merely mask the real issue. I would take a few lessons - not necessarily to learn any playing moves/techniques, but to make your playing more efficient and less fatiguing. Perhaps you might even think about some Alexander technique. I've found it extremely helpful.

    Yeah the strings on my school bass are very high action and i have to press down to get the tone I want. I start lessons next month I'll ask him about my tequnique

  5. UPRIGHT PLAYERS (but not limited to)

    How do you deal with straining your hands and fatigue while walking for an extended period of time?

    I usually use turmeric but it hasn't been readily available since I've gotten to university.

    Any preventative measures you take?

    Treatment etc.?

  6. What are your methods for transcribing? I feel like my way is very inefficient. I literally go note by note and it takes me 20 minutes to get 8 measures down.

    How do you guys do it?

    btw I mainly transcribe Jazz
