  1. I have had this bass for 2 years . When I received it from Thomann there were black sanding burn marks on the body that had been finished over , very obvious but cost of returning too high so I kept it . Last year the saddle adjustment screws , for intonation , seized . I was given my first bass in 1965 , have owned more basses than I can remember but have never had this problem before . My guess is the extra stress of heavier strings but in comparing the Sire bridge to a BadAss ll its pretty obvious Sire is not up to speed . During the last year the neck pocket has opened , not a little but quite alot . It now resembles a very amatuerish effort to fit a neck , someones first effort at building a guitar . I ordered  this bass after seeing Marcus M. in concert and having read a few good reviews , maybe not level reasoning . The Sire M7 , from my experience , is grossly overpriced . The problems I have encountered I would expect on a Harley Benton . I am tired of Fender , Fender , Fender but what is is that dollar for dollar when ordering a bass , sight unseen . is a much safer propostion with  F . My travel bass is a MIM Pbass Special Deluxe .......pretty much the same price but a much superior instrument , absolutely no comparison . I am sure all Sire basses are not ringers but my M7 is a definate pain in the /ss . A classic buyer beware .

Having had both a 425 and a 435, I beg to differ. The electronics and the B string on both Yamahas was nothing to write home about. Both were bought before playing (one was dirt cheap) but I moved them on because they were a bit anonymous and lacked that feeling of being “alive”. Nothing like some older 80s BBs I’ve played. I also tried the 735 and didn’t believe it was worth the extra money (painted neck seemed odd and didn’t sound or feel better to me). As always, everyone has their own views. IMHO the Sire V7 5 that I bought (fully expecting to send back as not good enough) is a much better all-round bass - although maybe not all are, not sure about their consistency.

I have the Sire M7 5string ash , 2nd generation . it sings sweet but the bb435 is much more user friendly . the B on the Sire is more lively but the 435 runs tighter with the same strings , go figure , angle of headstock is my guess . Again the M7 sounds great but ergonomically it is not that user friendly . AND , I just cannot get used to the looks of the damn bass , ugly as sin

  3. apples and oranges a bit but it would be very hard to beat a BB435 for the $$$ . out shines any fender at twice the price or any Sire in the $1000 range , I have them all . It has a funky bridge and tuners but the neck is a killer and the headstock angle insures a fairly tight B .

To be fair, your post was written so poorly, my interpretation is understandable 😂. I’ve played many Gibsons (basses) and haven’t enjoyed the experience once. I’ve also worked on a few. I think the EB3 was possibly the worst I’ve had in front of me. What is that bridge all about?

My LesPaul is compared to my $4500 SC Alembic on a weekly basis , the Gibson is preferred . I am not an EB/3 fan but my 1969 LesPaul Recorder bass has been much appreciated at Sound80 studio from time to time . But anyway , my last post to you . a waste of time

Ha ha. ‘Yamaha screams cheap’ made me laugh, especially when the alternative is a Gibson, which I can’t stand. Personal preference I know, but I haven’t played a duff Yamaha yet. Can’t say the same for Gibsons.

maybe a reread is in order . the mid priced Yamaha 435 , a 5 string , gets left behind and a Fender MIA Marcus Miller 5 string taken instead . the Les Paul Gibson is favored , in my music room , over a 1969 Fender Telecaster , 60\s Starfire , MIA Marcus Miller 4 string , MIJ Jazz and even a lowly Alembic . Only neophytes put down everything Gibson in a knee jerk reaction .

  6. I purchased a MB 450 H very cheap from a small shop , they were being discontinued because of terrible tone at lower volumes . It sat in my music room rarely used at home or in public until my main amp went in for repairs . After a weekend of trial and error I was able to find fantastic tone and very low volume . I bought a 4/10 and 1/15 cab with it . Using the 4/10 I have found super settings , especially for 5 string  .Its now the perfect music room stack and cat perch . Anyone feeling stuck with one can contact me for info .

  7. At home it is a Gibson LesPaul Doublecut , rootbeer , from 2006 . Thinned the neck to Geddy Lee specs . My at home 5 string is a Yamaha 435 . I would not use either in public because the Gibson is terrible standing and the Yamaha screams / cheap / . In public its a Pbass and MarcusMiller 5 , both much harder to play .

  8. I bought my first bass in 1965 . I have '69 Tele's , '69 LesPaul , 60's Guild Starfire , MIA Fenders , Reverends , Kay , EB-3 , EB-3L , MIJ Yamaha etc etc . Out of curiosity , I bought a Sire M-7 natural ash . Avoiding alot of blather I have to say it would be fine if it were my one and only . It is a fantastically good deal , it would be at twice the price and I do play professionally . The only downside is that it arrived with the worst possible set-up imaginable , if you're not a decent armchair luthier have the one who does your set-up at the ready , mine was not even close to playable as delivered . Other than this I cannot imagine that there could be a reasonable complaint about the M-7 , it is fantastic and definately buying another . M-9 in the works Marcus ?????

  9. I blend the two ,  run 1-15 & 4-10 , very fat/warm with the 15 and my BB P-35 . took some time to get a good mix .  as I mentioned before the shop had all complaints and dropped the line because of poor tone at low volume . not the case at all .

  10. picked up a Marshall mb450 head very cheap as a spare , shop owner complained that  good tone at low volume was impossible . have found quite the opposite after alot of experimenting . very fat b-15 vibe possible while barely audible . anyone stuck with this head feel free to contact me . peace .
