  1. I absolutely love my Sire V7 wht-4str-rosewood

    Great player

It is a bit on the heavy side but I have had heavier

At first I loved every thing but the sound

Changed to a different string brand and that fixed that

Could there be improvements, Yes and that is why there is a 2nd series out now

    Would like to play one

    The changes look great

  2. I get that the bigger chain stores hire employees that are more an employee than musician or gear head. So I know what to expect with the big store. We have one smaller music store left in our little city. And I had been a devoted customer for years. The last time I was in there however the new staff did not know anything. They relied on looking stuff up on google. One story is a customer I was talking with had a guitar (Strat copy and I cannot think of the make at this moment which is bugging me!) that he won and was looking to sell it. The clerk behind the counter said that he didn't recognize the make and that he couldn't even make an offer because someone else was using the computer. I looked at the wall of guitars  and hanging up was the same guitar (different color) for $400.

From this story and several others I lost heart in the store

I used to like going into the small music stores but they are all drying up in my area

  3. Hi Dazed,

Your story does not sound much different than my own. In and out of playing due to work/college/family and so on. Now the career is good, family has grown and I have time to myself again. That is why I signed up to SBL. To relearn some of the forgotten stuff and to grow past where I was/am. I am not in a hurry to join a band but I want to play and be better at more than just pop, rock and country. So to the "Shed" I go! And like Scott says: "I'll see you in the shed"

Best of luck (to the both of us)

  4. The last 'real' band I was in was with decent people and musicians except for the piano/keyboardist. He was good at only one thing (other than being high constantly) and that was very fast honkytonk type of playing. Ask him to slow down or work out a passage and he was lost. Like a guitarist that is amazing at soloing but cannot play rhythm. But he felt like he was the 'musical leader' of the band. After going through a bunch of drummers we were working on a slow country ballad and the bridge part was very important for the female singer to hit the right notes to bring in the guitar solo. I had told the keyboardist and guitarists what the changes were and when he said that I was only the bassist and what would I know about chords that was it for me. I knew I could not work with him after that. Once I left the drummer quit and then the female singer quit so there wasn't much of a band to hold together.

So to sum it up, be happy with the people you play music.

    Thanks for reading

  5. I agree the $25 a month was on the high side

I would think this to be more like a 10-20 a month

Still I have signed up and it has not been a month yet and I am seeing improvements

Even the basics are great to revisit due to the rut some of us can get into from time to time

I have never taken lessons anywhere else but I am really enjoying it so far
