I've got it going with my GX-100 for blending two different distortions (one bass, one guitar). It all seems to work. You can either have full signal in both paths or set a crossover freqency for the div/mix block.

Missed this one. To set the input gain, play your bass as hard as you would in a gig and adjust the gain so that it tickles the orange section. That's what Boss say to do in the manual.

I like the concert for a neutral tone. The Fat Tube is my preference for something a bit gritty.

Thanks, I will try using the Concert amp. I tried using the Studio Amp, which is meant to be based on a Markbass amp, but I find it too harsh and bit cold sounding.

  2. Has anybody tried the GX-10/GX-100 against a zoom b6? The HX stomp is outside my price range, so I’m trying to decide between those two.

Currently leaning towards the GX-10 just because it is smaller and can do parallel signal processing. (Also the chassis not being made out of plastic is a big plus)

Yep, but I don't own any at the moment. The main differences are aesthetic, and PUs from Nords to Barts, which you could do easily enough if you wanted to the the 1345B. Plus the Prestige are MIJ, which I suppose is nice but in reality doesn't get you very much.

I'd love a 5006 myself, but wouldn't pony up the stiff premium for one here, about 2x over a 1346B.

Save your money unless the 5005 in your actual hands is the most awesome bass you've ever played, or in net terms swapping it for the 1345 gives the tone you prefer, and the changeover is only a couple of hundred quid.

I was thinking of swapping the pickups from the nordstrand to bartolini, which should get me there tone wise for the most part. The 5005 is £1200, which is double what I paid for the 1345b. Don’t think it’s going to sound and feel twice as good.

  4. Has anyone owned both a premium and prestige Ibanez SR? I currently own an ibanez sr1345b, and wanted to ask whether there is much of a difference between the two in terms of how it feels to play as well as tone? I know that they use different pickups and slightly different woods.

I came across a used sr5005 and trying to convince myself not to get it, as I recently got my premium Ibanez and been very happy with it so far. There’s always the temptation that something more expensive will feel/sound nicer.

  5. Hey guys,

I recently bought an Ibanez 1345b. It's the best instrument I have ever owned, however I'm having issues with intonating the E string.

At the 12th fret, it is about 3-4 cents flat.

I have come across several threads on talkbass and one here  complaining about the same issue.

Has anyone had any luck resolving the intonation issue? I'm using D'addario EXL165-5, which are the same strings that are shipped with the bass.

  6. I had purchased an Ibanez sr1345b from James; highly recommend purchasing any instruments/equipment from him. Great communication and posted the bass quickly. The bass is great, and just as described 😀.

Easy pedal to use if you ignore the manual and just watch Amos Heller's video review on Youtube!

Sounds really good clean and very easy to set it up to be clean, but I personally went back to separate pedals. I wouldn't put anyone off buying a Photon though, and the Alpha/Omega engine is the nicest drive Darkglass do IMHO.

Thanks for the reply, I’ll have a look at that video review tonight.

How come you went back to individual pedals? For me (hobbyist who goes to jam nights couple of times a month), having a single pedal would really simplify things and save space at home.

  8. Hello,

I’m thinking of getting the Darkglass alpha omega photon as an all in one solution.

I was wondering how easy is it to dial in a clean tone? How does it sound clean? I would be playing without distortion most of the time, so wondering whether there is even any point of buying one.

  9. Hi everyone,

I’m thinking of getting the Darkglass element, and wanted to ask whether it is worth the price tag?

im currently using a focusrite scarlet solo with reaper for practice. But I find getting my laptop out and setting everything up such a hassle sometimes. So was thinking of getting the Darkglass element to be my practise rig.

I came across cheaper alternatives, like the NUX mighty pro. I can get this for £100, meanwhile the element is £220.
