Anyone have any experience with the Cliff Burton Fuzz Wah?
-
That is really well done. Beautiful guitar.

That is an awesome bass.

Gorgeous

I just couldn't adjust to the Spector I bought last week. It was a great bass but just not for me. So I returned it and picked up this little guy instead. Got a hundred bucks (quid?)back and ended up with a bass that is more my speed.

Ask him how many pens he's got?
Or just go with the fashion answer: the golden one goes with your black shoes, the blue one goes with your jeans and jacket, the red one is for... etc

He's a poet so I'm sure he has quite a few. -
My brother when he hears that I bought my second bass, "what do you need another bass for."
Some people just don't get it. -

Whatever you preference, or if you want to fit in on bass forums:
1. 'I set everything flat'
2. 'I eq to suit the ambience of the room'
3. 'I bump the mids a bit, mid scoop is for amateurs'
4. 'Everything up on full, that way every frequency will be heard equally. Then turn up master volume to taste.'

I should have known, to each his own. -
Any rule of thumb for what the low, mid and high should be set to?

I did it. I bought a new to me Specter and capo'd it at the third fret. Plays very nicely. Here's a pic.

I've never thought of that! As others have suggested, it should be fine if it's only a couple of frets maximum. Those first couple of frets are a few inches though so they'll go a long way. String gauge will obviously play a part in the end result.

I think I am going to give it a shot. -

Are you trying to capo the bass and tune it so it's still standard tuning (EADG) after being capo'd??
[/quote]
Yep, that is what I had in mind. -

Tried once or twice. Lost intonation if I put it up more than a couple of frets. But that could be the cheap stuff (bass, strings) I was using?

I am thinking of putting it on the second or third fret. -
Anybody ever put a capo on a long scale bass to shorten the scale? Obviously you would lose some of the higher notes but otherwise does it work OK?
-
It's because they're Canadian. We are very nice people.

Beautiful work.

Thanks everyone. I am in Toronto, no snow yet. 😂

Returning bassist from Canada here. I played as a teen and had to give it up because of hand problems. I picked up an Ibanez sound gear short scale bass and a Fender Rumble 15 amp. My next purchase is going to be some effects and a bass wah.
Thanks for having me.

Yup. I've got one in my board.
It does the Burton fuzz wah sound very well. At almost everything else it is terrible for bass. It was originally a guitar item after all.
If you want the Burton thing it's perfect. Especially stacked into another fuzz like Burton did.

Thanks for the input. I think it would be fun to play around with.
