Thanks three, that could be a plan, I've got some double ball ends, will give it a go, I'll let you know if it works.

Hi folks, I have a problem I'm finding difficult to solve. I have a '69 Plexiglass and the E string has broken. I know that's not normally an issue, but I can't find a short scale E with a small enough ball end to fit into the slot on the bridge, any ideas please?

Morning! After all this time (41 years as a pro) I'm realising I can't keep my head in the sand and just pluck my trusty Status and hope for the best even though it never ever goes wrong. It's about time I learned a bit more about what I love to do, so prepare to have your brains picked (or fingered) with possibly some of the dumbest questions ever asked on here, looking forward to it.

Afternoon, I wonder if anyone can help me. I can't find a bottom E flatwound that has a small enough ball end to slot into the tailpiece.I know I could get it widened to take one, but I don't want to mess with it, I just love basses that haven't been tampered with. So, does anyone have any suggestions as to string make (i'm looking to put a 100 gauge on) or is there anyone out there who is such an expert they would know what brand and gauge the originals were?
