My maple neck is 8.4 pounds It’s just over the fresh hold for me I’m actually looking for a rosewood board this would have me great too

"ES" is indeed said to mean entered special. But apparently it meant that these instruments were meant to be used for displays and demonstration. I've mainly seen sunburst with this marking, which means it's not a custom color thing.
I've owned a '66 P, and it's genuinely the most characterfull P I've played so far.

Do you have any information you can share about the history of the bass and maybe some specs? Having the pictures is great, but more info would be even more helpful, for instance one picture seems to show the edge of a bridge "ashtray", but it doesn't appear in any of the other pictures.

That picture is to show the ES stamped on the body which means entered special as they did with custom colour if you want to know more and you are interested you can mail me and I will be happy to help
