Hi all, I just joined the community. I am learning to play bass and I am also studying to become a luthier. I already do bass setups and shortly I'm going to learn fret crowning. As per my gear, I found a decent Shine SB14 which I already vastly improved with a simple set up. Also, I rewired and replaced the creaky pots. And shortly it's going to be crowning time! Then most likely I'll install a couple of good J-pickups (passive). Any suggestion on preferred brands? Aguilar, Bartolini... Amps, nothing special, just a small Peavey 15 to study. In the future I'm going to build a decent cabinet with a valve head. Yes, you guessed it, I'm a lifelong maker with experience of woodworking, audio electronics and fine mechanics.
