  1. Morning,

Thanks for the responses - All of the above apply to me: The bridge is bending upwards - I have never lubricated the bridge - and, like Sarah Thomas, the penny has dropped! Thanks for the advice about the adjusters. I thought they might come in useful if I changed strings to lower tension in the future as I have a low action. It's not a particularly loud bass, so I guess I should stick to the same type of bridge.

I actually live close to Bridgewood and Neitzert in Stoke Newington, so maybe I'll just bite the bullet and go there. I'll take the bent bridge with me for sizing. Not sure I'd get them to fit it as they wanted £90 to fit a Fishman full circle. Should be able to find a nice bit of time over the holiday to fit it myself, though I hope the soundpost stays put!

    Thanks
    Tom

  2. Hi All,

My bridge is looking a bit dodgy, and I'd hate for it to pack up on me at an inopportune moment.

Where would be the place to buy a replacement of a reasonable quality, and what should I expect to pay?
I'd quite like to have adjusters fitted, but not sure if I would pay the extra for that at this time of the year.

Alternatively, is it possible to straighten a warped bridge? I recently loosened the strings off in the hope that it would straighten up with the release of the stress, but it didn't. It's on a 3/4 upright.

    Thanks
    Tom

  3. I have one, bought from here last year.

Pearl white alder body with matching headstock, rosewood fingerboard, bound with block inlays. DiMarzios and Demeter preamp.

Gorgeous to play, well balanced, and such a perfectly profiled neck for me. I was only used to Precision necks before so the width has been a revelation to me.

I can understand that the headstock is not everyone's cup of tea, but I like not having the complete Fender look.

I can't quite find the Jazz "burp" sound, but that could just be me not spending much time experimenting with the endless eq options. No problem ever cutting through a live or studio mix.

    Thanks
    Tom

    Thanks guys.

It's been great stuff with all of you! I'm now in Wilkins heaven :)

  5. I too have had a fantastic transaction with Nigel.

The Wilkins is now in my possession and what a beauty! I am head over heals in love with it.

Nigel has been wonderfully patient with me while I accumulated the funds and extremely hospitable when I came to collect.

It couldn't have been a nicer experience, thanks a lot Nigel. A pleasure to meet you.

  6. Hi Guys,

I'm selling a very clean MIM P bass, sunburst, tort with rosewood board.

Sounds as it should, nice and easy to play. Bought it from bc last year some time, but I'm changing bass so this need to go for cash.

£200 including Stagg soft carry case, which is why I would rather not post. Collection from London, but will try to be helpful as I need it gone. Very welcome to try first, but will need to retreive my rig, or you can go through PJB buddy for privacy, if you're shy, like me!

Will attempt to post pictures this evening.

    Thanks
    Tom

  7. Hi

I'm selling on a Fishman Full Circle pickup hardly ever been used, in its original box. 1/4" UNC-20 threads. £110 including postage.
Bought from another bc member last year for a little more than I'm offering now, but never fitted it to my bass. :)

I'm a tad disappointed not to have tried it through my rig, but raising funds for a new purchase, so it's time to offload.

    Thanks
    Tom

  8. Hi Guys,

As there is no other obvious place to post this I'll stick it here and hope it gets noticed :)

I work for a leading international human rights organisation in London, and we're throwing our "end of year party", provisionally 11 December.

I would like to book a brilliant band as part of the evening entertainment, so please pm me if you have the repertoire that can keep us all dancing for a couple of hours. I am thinking main streem funk/disc/soul, basically, brilliant dance tunes that we would recognise. We have a diverse multi-cultural staff from all over the world with plenty of energy who will be up for partying and and a good audience to perform for.

If you think your band can offer us a great time please let me know. Recommendations will also be appreciated.

We have a budget, and will negotiate but I would prefer a band local(ish) to London in order to keep the travel expenses down. I am also a sucker for the brass section, but I guess that's just my personal taste and that shouldn't put you off if you don't have one.

Look forward to hearing from you
    Tom
