  1. I see there's a lot of different aproaches here. Very interesting.

I use 3 fingers to acheive speed. Like Galilee I use a very percussive technique, I hit the strings with a lot of strenght so I can hear that "clack".
My playing style is very similar to that of Alex Webter when it comes to right-hand technique, and he's not my main influence.

In terms of harmony I follow the riffs but I make some fills and in some cases where I have space I like to play a different riff instead of the one the guitars are playing. I also like to use a lot of chords, but only diads for now (two note chords).

  2. I has more to do with you attack then your gear or EQ. You can grow some nails but having a strong (and I mean STRONG) attacks may cause a clank that aprocimates the sound of a pick. But it's different though. I use both techniques (fingernails and strong attack) in separrate ways for two different sounds.

  3. My perfect rig would be a Dingwall Z2 with a slightly different shape (some pointy edges, for the metal you know :)) with a flame top with a black see-through finish. The body wood would have to be something like Walnut, to give some REALLY strong mids, and the fingerboard would be ebony, the darkest possible. It would be a 5er, or maybe a 6er.
I would have another just like it but in green or red see-through and with a fretless fingerboard made of ebony.

Then I would have 2 Trace Elliot V4. One would go through a Berg NV215 and the other through a NV610.
On both I would have them very clean except for a slight boost on master volume for some power tube distortion.

  4. For that price costumers must be expecting something high end, not like the cheap Laneys, so that comparision when you say, "But it's a Laney" is not right.

But tubes blowing on two models just by turning on, that's awful.
