  1. Made for me by a friend. Spalted Maple veneer over an oak body, ash neck with ebony fingerboard. P and J bass pick ups and Dunlop Flatwounds. Plays like a dream and sounds like liquid noise!

  2. Hi all,

I play 4 and 5 string Cort electric basses, a "bitsa" fretless, and a Fender semi acoustic. Amps wise I have a 180w Behringer cube, and a 1000w Orange Terror amp with two Orange cabs for the bigger places.

Anyone else on here suffer from chronic nerves on stage? I have been playing a while now but struggle badly with nerves.

Anyone have any ideas on how to cope?

    Thanks

  3. When I started playing Bass the bass I bought had roundwounds on and I hated them - nasty, sharp sounding things which I couldn't get on with and I made little or no progress in my playing.

    BUT........!!

A friend (the guy who now looks after my basses, repairs, etc) suggested I try flatwounds. I did and I use nothing else on my electric basses. I recently found a set of ovalwounds (yes really!!) and put them on my Semi Acoustic Bass and they sound and play lovely.

I find D'Addario stings the most consistent quality.

Give flatwounds (or ovalwounds) a go. I wouldn't use anything else!

  4. Hi All,

I am thinking of starting to learn DB but I don't know anyone who teaches it here near Swansea and I don't want to buy an instrument on the chance I don't like it/cant play it!!

    Any suggestions/pointers?

    Ta muchly in advance....

  5. I saw them last night in Cardiff, and they still awesome musicians. They are getting on (except for Steve Morse!) and that has its effects. But it was a lot of fun last night. Roger Glover and Ian Paice were having a ball!!

  6. New to this forum, but I have been playing bass for some 2 years and guitars in general for 5 years.

Started late in days (aged 57 now) but loving it

Going to start looking for someone or ones to play together with somewhere in South Wales and giving it a go!!

    Looking forward to using Basschat..
