I said 'inspired by', that doesn't mean it turned out looking anything like it. 😄

It's not finished yet but here's the thread if it's of interest.

I don't know why it's put that picture there, that's not mine. 🤔😁

That is very nice! It is a cracking shape for a bass.

Our Betty is getting loads of prime time coverage. BBC news, ITV news???? Even the Daily Mail. Although the Mail readers seem to be a little confused. As one commenter puts it...

"There seems to be some confusion here. She was not the actress Bette Davis. She was Betty Davis a singer.  She was also the mother of Steve Davis the snooker player".

    Nearly whizzed myself 🤣🤣🤣 .

    Do you accept wee'd.......

  4. My first (and only) 5er is a Harley Benton MM85a. Good bass and only £177 quid. The neck pickup is too close for slapping but that's about it. They do a single pickup passive for about £120 which looks cool too. I didn't want to spend big on something I wasn't sure about. Glad I didn't as it is good enough for me.

  5. I blagged one for free when I bought my Thunderbird from Guitar Guitar. Tried for an EB3 but no chance. Big chip in the headstock (definite neck dive accident, and probably why the gave it to me), but otherwise really decent for nowt. The only thing I will say is watch for the bridge screws popping out - happened to me. Not all the way but scary non the less. I just glued it back in and all is well again.

Pretty sure those have been up for 2 years now 😄

There were 3 versions of the Thunder II , a twin split coil model then a PJ model. In 1983 the Thunder II PJ was renamed the Thunder III and the Thunder II became a medium scale (32") with 2 single coils. Each version also had the option for fretless.

I was £300 for this Thunder III back in Feb 2020.

I have the very Thunder II of which you speak. Heavy as a planet, but the super boomer pickups are great and it plays wonderfully with light strings (30-90s shaves a bit of weight off too ha ha). I love it and will never part with it.IMG_20200417_130006.thumb.jpg.868ee4ee4c11d0224ee735d2659da1ef.jpg

Nah, Thunderbird is a great looking and playing classic. The thundergun just looks weird - designed by a committee perhaps 👎

Agree about the Thunderbird totally. Wonderful neck on them too. Still love the look of the Reverend though......

Ken Haas offered me an artist endorsement a few years ago; I was in love with Thundergun basses, just needed a backup to my Thunderbirds and something I could be a bit carefree with.

They were rare over here...contacted Reverend direct.

I feel the carefree thing totally. I disagree with all the negative chitter chatter about TBirds (especially the modern ones) neck diving, being one trick pony's etc etc, but if one thing has kind of haunted me is this notion of fragility. I have another through neck bass, which I don't  feel in any way twitchy about. Maybe I should just get on with it and play it everywhere live. I am not normally one to give a toss. But I struggle to shake it off. I can't even think it is particularly nickable either. I remember in the early 90s having to run on stage with my bass when the other bands bassist (and mate) accidentally smashed the headstock off his Washburn. Horrid - and that was a bolt on.....
