If you go on their website, it does appear they do stuff like that now, there's a picture of a tech in a workshop....

I saw that on their website. I am just curious if someone had their guitars/basses setup by them, and how good the quality of this service is.

2. Hi guys,

I ordered from thomann a Fender Elite jazz 5 string which i like a lot, but i want to return it for 2 reasons: it's noisy - it needs a good shielding job, and i find the neck to be a little to wide for my taste,  for the last 10 years or so i played just one bass, a warwick streamer lx5 which is 17.5 mm string spacing.

So i'm thinking to order the same model with 4 strings and tune it BEAD. I talked to the guys from Thomann and they said they will setup the bass for me to acomodate thicker strings: file the nut, intonation, neck adjustment etc etc.

Did you had any experience with Thomann setup jobs?

I ask because the B string on this bass, the 5 string one, is very nice, it intonates very good, no fret buzz, good sustain. So somehow i'm affraid that on the 4 string version the B will not be the same. Im a little paranoic i know ha ha!

4. Hello!
I have a dilemma: i have one Ampeg SVT410HE cabinet(i like the sound very much) and i need another cab and don't know what to get: another 410HE or a SVT15E.
My gear is:
-Warwick Streamer LX 5 string
-Trace Elliot V-Type all tube head 220W
-EBS Valve Drive
-Rotosound strings
My style is metal. I play pickstyle and use a medium overdriven sound. I mention that i use frequently the B string because my band's style requires it. Check my band's myspace to see what is all about www.myspace.com/avataromania
I am looking for an old school metal sound with alot of definition and presence and zero low end mud :)
What combination do you think will be the best for my style?
Tnks!!

5. Hi Lfalex ! Tnks for your reply. I will answer to you questions:
1. Yes i have 2 MEC jazz pickups but they are active and i think they are a split coil hum cancelling design not a single coil.
2. I play with the EQ by-passed.

6. Hello people

I need your help please. I have a Warwick Streamer LX5 and i want to change the pickups because i find they sound a little cold and sterile.
I play metal with a pick and I want the new pickups to sound more vintage (not modern hi-fi) with alot of lo-mid and hi-mids and not so much treble and bass.
I want to buy :
- Delano JMVC 5 FE

or
- Nordstrand NJ5S
http://www.nordstrandpickups.com/bas...aditional.html
Which one you recommend me?
I think mabe single coils will cut-through better but i'm afraid of hum - i have an all tube amp Trace elliot V-Type
If you have other ideeas please tell me
Thank you !

7.
Here is a 1996 schematic of the V type preamp, or preamp section. The first two v1 and V2 are in the preamp proper, other two ECC 83s or 12AX7s are in the input gain stage of the power amp section. The V type preamps are all the same , they are 2 valve preamps. FYI, if you are looking for these, across the pond they turn up cheaper and you can re-wire them to work in the UK.
Thank you!
How much it will change the sound if i change the upper tubes from input gain stage of the power amp?
I live in Romania.

8. I don't have a half power switch. Today i was to rehearsal and pluged the bass into the passive input, put the gain to max and master volume at 12-1 o clock. It was much better with gain at max. I still don't get much drive but it's a better overall sound. Now i'm pleased :) If i want more drive i have to buy a pedal effect.
